Clinicians from the Conemaugh MedSTAR team and nurses from the ICU at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center recently came together for intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) refresher training. Opportunities like this highlight the strength of collaboration between our flight crews and hospital critical care staff—ensuring seamless, high-level care for our most complex patients.

Our MedSTAR critical care team remains committed to delivering top-notch cardiac care, including the safe transport and management of advanced devices such as IABP, Impella, and other LVAD systems. Continuous training and teamwork are what allow us to bring ICU-level care to the patient’s side—wherever they are.

Happy National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week!

From all of us on the Conemaugh DART and MedSTAR teams, we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the incredible 911 telecommunicators who serve as the true first first-responders.

Every call you take, every piece of critical information you gather, and every calm, steady voice you provide sets the tone for the entire response. Your work allows our crews to respond safely, efficiently, and prepared—often before we even arrive on scene.

A special thank you to AirCom, whose coordination and communication are vital to the success of our flight operations. Your ability to manage complex situations behind the scenes makes a direct impact on patient care and crew safety every single day.

This week, our MedSTAR crews had the opportunity to visit several of our partner 911 centers in Somerset, Bedford, Cambria, and Westmoreland Counties. We always appreciate the chance to connect face-to-face with the voices we hear every day and to strengthen the relationships that make our system work.
