Burnside Fire crews were dispatched to traffic light 25 (the Highway 27/914 intersection) for a 3 vehicle MVC with confirmed entrapment in one vehicle. The patient was extracted from the vehicle via entry through the back hatch. Crews assisted with patient care. Somerset-Pulaski County EMS transported 4 patients to the hospital. Crews cleared debris and fluids from the roadway prior to reopening it to traffic and returned to service.

Also assisting on scene were Somerset Pulaski County Rescue Squad, Parkers Mill Fire Department, Burnside Police Department, Somerset Police Department.

Members traveled to Kroger field in Lexington this evening to participate in the 9/11 memorial stair climb to honor those we lost. We will never forget the sacrifices made that day and will always remember 9/11/01🇺🇸

Good morning Pulaski County,
The US National Weather Service Jackson Kentucky continues to track rounds of heavy rainfall for our area over the next 24-48 hours (and likely through the weekend). Localized flooding is very possible. Pulaski County is currently at a MARGINAL for severe weather and a SLIGHT for flooding. Please continue to monitor verified local weather resources, review your individual planning and stay weather aware.

It's official.

June, July and August of 2026 were the hottest summer in American history.

Hotter than the Dust Bowl summer of 1936. Hotter than anything in 132 years of records.

Utah, Colorado, Arizona and New Mexico just had the hottest summer their states have ever measured. Texas, Florida and California, top 4.

1936 had eight states at #1. It also had six states cooler than normal. This summer had four at #1 and not one cool state.

There is a power outage here at Somerset FD Station 2 and the surrounding area, including several traffic lights on and near HWY 27!
Remember treat those intersections as 4 way stops!
Kentucky Utilities is working to resolve the problem.

Good afternoon Pulaski County,
The US National Weather Service Jackson Kentucky has let us know that the heat will continue throughout tomorrow, but we are also going to see an increase in our storm/severe weather changes over the next 48 hours. Today, we are forecast to potentially see some thunderstorm activity in the late afternoon-early evening hours. Tomorrow (Saturday), NWS-Jackson has Pulaski County in the SLIGHT (Level 2) Risk of severe weather/storms. As always, we recommend you have a severe weather plan and stay tuned to verified local media (WLEX, WKYT, FM 106) or your weather radio to stay up to date with possible changing weather conditions. OEM will be monitoring the weather as the day goes on.
