Write-in EMILY BAER for Somerset Area School Board

Hey everyone! I just wanted to provide a quick update and say thank you to those that voted! Unfortunately, we fell short in the write-in campaign. I had 765 votes in the 4-year and 149 votes in the 2-year, with additional miscellaneous votes with my name spelled incorrectly, there were not enough to stay on the board. A write-in is hard to win, but I know I had support by the numbers, so we’ll see where life takes me and what adventure I get into next.

Being appointed to the school board a year and a half ago was an honor and testament of my character. I am me and I’ve learned that everything happens for a reason, even if that reason is hard to understand, time always has a way of reflecting the way something happened the way it did. Maybe it will work out to run again someday, or maybe it won’t. My campaign signs are in the attic, although I hope I don’t age too much until then.🤞🏼

Who makes a good school board member?

🧡 Someone with integrity and experience. As a current member of SASD school board, I am engaged in the quality of education my and your children are receiving and doing what is best for the educators and overall district employees.

🧡 Someone that is a positive voice and role model for the overall district. Is approachable and open to addressing cares and concerns from the students, teachers, district employees and parents.

🧡 An involved parent that has students enrolled in the district and volunteers in the classroom, as a coach, and at after school functions.

That someone is me. Write-in EMILY BAER for Somerset Area School Board I am a registered Republican that has lived in the district for a little over 9 years and I am asking for your support tomorrow!

👧 Your child’s future, is my children’s future.
💰 Your taxes are my taxes.
👮‍♂️ The safety of your student, is the safety of my students.
👩‍🏫 I care about quality teachers creating a positive learning environment where children look forward to going to school.

If you vote at the following places, I look forward to seeing you at the polls! I will make my rounds and hand out write-in slips at all four polling places and will have family and friends volunteering the whole time to gain your support and vote from 7 AM - 8 PM.

Good evening! I wanted to reach out and let you know how my job has influenced my interest in school board.

Some of you may or may not know that my full-time job is the Director of Marketing and Member Services at Somerset Rural Electric Cooperative.

When I say I LOVE my job, I mean it. Being able to connect with the membership and community is so important to me. In my day to day work, I am honored to educate students all across Somerset County about the amazing opportunities that your local rural electric cooperative provides.

📝 High School seniors whose parents or guardians live on co-op lines are eligible to apply for a $1,000 scholarship for higher education. I facilitate the applications, essays and judge results.

🏛️ I am the chaperone for Youth Tour - a powerful, once in a lifetime all-expense paid trip for high school juniors. Explore Washington D.C. monuments and memorials, visit the Capitol and network with other students across the U.S. and applications are available for Summer 2024 in December!

⚡️ I assist with Electric City, an educational presentation for 4th and 5th grade students to understand how electricity works, where it comes from and how to stay safe near power lines.

📚 The co-op is also a community champion for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library. Have a child birth to age 5? Sign them up or give me a call to help get them signed up to receive one book a month for free.

I am blessed to have a job that supports education and educational experiences while working directly with the students.

I care about the students in our district and community and will be their voice with cares and concerns.

To register, you must be:
✅ A citizen of the United States for at least one month before the next election.

Hello! My name is Emily Baer and I currently serve as a board director for the Somerset Area School District.

I am the wife of Zach Baer and mother to two beautiful daughters, Aubrey and Brielle. Aubrey is a student at Eagle View Elementary and Brielle is a student at Maple Ridge.

I have resided in Somerset Township for a little over 9 years. If you live in Somerset Township No. 3, Somerset Township No. 4, Lincoln or Jefferson Townships, I am asking for your write-in vote and your family and friends write-in vote on Tuesday, November 7 to fill one of the 4-year term board seats in Region 3.

I have served the district for a little over a year and a half as a board director and longer as an involved parent volunteering for school events.

With my experience, I will continue to speak up for what is best for the students, teachers and overall district and serve as a positive voice in our community.
