This afternoon, firefighters from Pioneer, Amador Fire, El Dorado County Fire Protection District and CAL FIRE Amador-El Dorado Unit responded for a fast-moving vegetation fire off Hawk Haven Ln. Firefighters used a full suppression strategy, utilizing air support, engines and hand crews to aggressively attack the fire. Firefighters stopped the forward progress of the fire, containing the fire to 45 acres.
Evacuations have been reduced to warnings.
The cause is under investigation.

Pioneer Fire Protection District is proud to announce a new emergency medical helicopter landing zone, located at 7325 Grizzly Flat Road - approximately midway between Four Corners and the community of Grizzly Flat.
After losing two previous landing zones due to property changes, creating a new location became a priority to ensure our community continues to have quick access to life-saving air medical transport.
A special thank you to one of our Pioneer Fire Board Members for providing the property and to Veerkamp Construction for donating fresh asphalt grindings while working in the area. Our crews assisted with compaction by watering the surface and using a rented roller. While the surface will eventually be sealed, it is ready for emergency use today.
This new landing zone joins our existing sites at Leoni Meadows, Tyler, Omo Ranch Elementary School, Broster, Caldor, Pi Pi, Sapiago Springs, and Pioneer Park, helping ensure emergency medical helicopters can safely access our community when every second counts.

🚒 Structure Fire Response – Strong Partnerships Make a Difference

Yesterday, there was a residential structure fire on Outingdale Rd where the rapid response and coordinated efforts of our partnering agencies were paramount in preventing further damage.
The fire originated in the kitchen before extending into the attic. Thanks to an aggressive interior attack and coordinated operations, firefighters were able to quickly bring the fire under control and stop further fire spread.
The cause of the fire remains undetermined. However, investigators believe it may have started after combustible items were left on an electric stove and family dogs inadvertently activated the stove while attempting to reach food left on top.

We are grateful for the outstanding teamwork and support from our neighboring fire agencies. Incidents like these highlight the importance of strong mutual aid partnerships and the commitment of firefighters working together to protect our communities.

⚠️ Safety Reminder: Never leave combustible materials such as food containers, paper products, towels, or plastic items on or near your stovetop—even when it's turned off. Curious pets can accidentally activate stove controls, creating a serious fire hazard. Keep your stovetop clear, consider using stove k**b covers or removing k**bs if you have pets, and always practice safe cooking habits to help keep your home and family safe.

While Pioneer Fire crews were actively assigned to the Capps Crossing fire, our district was dispatched to a structure fire in the 6000 block of Outingdale Road.
Thanks to the quick response and coordinated efforts of our mutual aid partners, firefighters made an aggressive attack and successfully extinguished the fire, preventing further extension.
Fire operations were completed without any firefighter or civilian injuries. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

Pet Fire Safety Tips:
✅ Keep pets away from cooking surfaces, candles, and electrical cords
✅ Use monitored smoke alarms and test them regularly
✅ Place pet alert window stickers where first responders can see them
✅ Keep leashes, carriers, and emergency supplies easily accessible
✅ Include your pets in your family emergency and evacuation plans
