This morning our high school and middle school Lady Maroons soccer team participated in the yearly Operation Beautification of Somerset! Our girls picked up trash for 6 miles on N Hwy 27!

We are always so proud of these girls and their dedication to help the community!

This morning, the Southern Middle Lady Warriors participated in Operation Beautification, helping clean up the roadsides along Grand Central Boulevard and Thurman Road.

The girls had a great time serving our community and even needed an extra delivery of trash bags to finish the job.

Thank you to everyone who came out, helped, and made a difference today.

Please help us solve a problem, this is unacceptable behavior. These are pictures of our containers at Walmart. Certain Individuals are using our containers as a free dump. Others are rummaging through and creating a major mess. As well as, causing litter issues in the Walmart Parking lot. Vendors in the area have called the Somerset Police Department to help with the issue. However, that did not slow them down this week.

1.) These are recycling containers not to be used for Household waste. If we can't process it at our center don't put it in the containers. We empty the containers Monday/Wednesday/Friday. If they are full please don't set stuff on the ground. The Pulaski County Recycling Center is open M-F 7:30-4 for drop off.

2.) If you see people inside our containers please call the Somerset Police Department. They are aware and told us they would patrol the area more frequently.

3.) Help us spread the word, our employees work extremely hard to process your recycling. Handling trash makes their job much more difficult.

Thank You to our community for your support. We have one of the most successful Recycling Programs in the State. And that is because of the people of Pulaski County.

City of Somerset, KY residents ONLY!

Spring cleaning season is in full bloom 🌸🧼 Make sure to put the City of Somerset Sanitation's annual cleanup on your calendar!

Each household within the city limits will be allowed ONE pickup truck load of trash during spring cleanup week, April 13-17, 2026. Place items on the curb on your normal trash day.

IMPORTANT ‼️ The city will not accept any hazardous items such as tires, paint, gasoline, oil, etc.

Due to weather conditions Waste Connections was unable run Monday’s & Tuesday trash route we will pick up 2 weeks’ worth of trash next week on your regular pick up day. Wednesday January 28th we will be running regular schedule the remainder of the week. In the event road conditions prevent us from servicing your location , Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday, we will pick up extra trash on your normal service day next week to ensue service recovery. If your recycle pick up was Monday January 26th it has been rescheduled for Monday February 2nd. If your recycle pick up was Tuesday January 27th it has been rescheduled for Tuesday February 3rd.
