The Somerset Police Explorers program starts March 6th for grades 9-12. We will be holding sign-ups and a meet and greet this Thursday 2/23 from 6-8pm and Tuesday 2/28 from 330-530pm at the Somerset Police Department. Pick a day and stop in for a few minutes to meet Officer Lewandoski who will be there to handle sign-ups and answer any questions you may have. The Somerset Police Explorers will be starting classes on Monday nights, March 6th from 630pm to 830pm at the Somerset Police Department training room. The program will be on Monday nights, excluding school vacations and holidays and will end May 8th. Interested candidates can scan the QR code attached and fill out the interest form through google docs. Candidates must be in high school and be in good academic standing. Any questions can be emailed to Ofc Eric Lewandoski at [email protected]

We are in the process of finalizing our 2023 calendar of training events. Below are a list of what we have in store;

Cadet Academy (summer of 23’) one-week long
Junior Cadet Academy (grades 6-8) ….
Explorers Training ( March to May) Monday nights
R.A.D Kids ( ages 5-12) - multiple training sessions

We would like to take this opportunity to give our thanks to Thomas Letourneau and the young men of the Somerset Police Explorers !

We are so very grateful to have them volunteering at SOAM and helping us to provide a great community event for everyone to enjoy!

The Somerset Police Explorer program is designed for youths who are ages 14 to 20, have graduated the 8th grade and are interested in Law Enforcement. In addition to assisting the community, the Explorers in this a hands-on training program practice events that are similar to what police officers go through including car stops, Burglary, OUI, Domestic Violence, and much more. This week we trained in mock traffic stops, a very common aspect of policing. Practicing these stops not only gives our explorers an understanding of this vital police function, but also ties into proper radio procedure, motor vehicle law, and criminal law.
