Take a look as crews launch bridge beams across the Salt Lick Creek valley as progress continues on the U.S. 127 realignment project. Using the Incremental Launching Method, contractor Bush & Burchett is carefully pushing the massive steel beams into place for the new U.S. 127 bridge โ€” a precise and efficient process designed for projects of this scale.

Once complete, the bridge will span 1,275 feet with piers rising more than 200 feet above the valley floor, making it one of the most impressive structures on the project.

The $105 million U.S. 127 realignment will create a new six-mile corridor from the Cumberland River in Russell County to KY 3063 in Clinton County, including five new bridges designed to improve safety, traffic flow, and capacity along this vital corridor.

One week to go!๐Ÿšง

Iโ€‘65 will close in Louisville between Iโ€‘264 and downtown (Jefferson Street) starting June 1.

This short-term closure is designed to replace 3 bridges to ensure safe, long-term connections. This method saves more than a year of additional restrictions and delays on the interstate.

Now is the time to finalize your plans, review detour routes, and prepare for the closure. Visit I65CentralCorridor.com for details and updates.

๐Ÿšง Reminder: Signs Prohibited on State Highway Right of Way ๐Ÿšง

KYTC is reminding residents, business owners, and political candidates that non-official signs are not permitted on state highway right of way.

This includes campaign signs, yard sale signs, and other advertisements placed on:
โ€ข Utility poles
โ€ข Fences
โ€ข Guardrails
โ€ข Official road signs

๐Ÿš— Why it matters:
Improperly placed signs can block visibility for drivers, creating dangerous conditions. They can also interfere with routine maintenance like mowing, ditch cleaning, and litter removalโ€”and may pose a hazard if a vehicle leaves the roadway.

KYTC crews will remove any signs that create safety concerns or disrupt maintenance operations. Removed signs will be held at the local county highway garage within District 8 for up to two weeks before being discarded if unclaimed.

๐Ÿ”น Dutch Creek
Construction begins next week with earthwork operations. Expect intermittent stoppages or one-lane traffic controlled by flaggers.

๐Ÿ—“๏ธ Both projects are expected to be completed by November 30, 2026.

Please slow down, stay alert, and use caution when traveling through the work zone.

This week is Work Zone Awareness Week.

These photos highlight the people behind the vestsโ€”working every day to keep our roads safe.

Please do your part:
โ€ข Slow down
โ€ข Put the phone down
โ€ข Follow signs and flaggers

Safe drivers + safe workers = safe work zones.

In 2025, Kentucky reported 1,156 work zone crashes, including 272 injuries and 13 fatalities. Most victims were drivers and passengers.

Letโ€™s work together to make sure everyone gets home safely.
