Soroptimist of Somerset County Soroptimist's mission is to improve the lives of women and girls, in local communities and throughout the world.

Soroptimist means "best for women" and that's what we strive to be—an organization of women at their best helping other women to be their best. As a volunteer organization of business and professional women we feel uniquely qualified to help women and girls live their dreams.

What a lovely evening for our August Soroptimist meeting! ☀️🌸

We enjoyed gathering outdoors and were especially happy to welcome guests, reconnect with old friends, and spend time together as we look ahead to another meaningful year of service.

During the meeting, we discussed our Live Your Dream program, which supports women who are the primary financial providers for their families as they work toward their educational and career goals. We also talked about upcoming projects and new opportunities to bring greater awareness to Soroptimist and the work we do throughout our community.

We were also pleased to officially install Renee Hoffman as our Corresponding Secretary!

A Night of Service, Leadership & Celebration! ❤️🤍💙
This week, the Soroptimist International of Somerset County gathered for our annual Installation Ceremony, celebrating a new year of service and leadership.

With our nation's 250th anniversary as this year's theme, the evening was filled with patriotic spirit, fellowship, laughter, and reflection. From singing The Star-Spangled Banner and My Country, 'Tis of Thee, to testing our knowledge with American history trivia and even signing our own Declaration of Independence, it was a memorable celebration of both our country and our commitment to making a difference in the lives of women and girls.

✨We are excited to recognize our Soroptimist Junior, Madison, a student at Meyersdale Area High School and the daughter of Richard and Ashley Berkley.

She is deeply involved in her community, generously giving her time through organizations and events such as Meyersdale Church of the Brethren, Meyersdale youth sports teams—where she serves as both a coach and umpire—Trunk or Treat, the Duck Regatta, Maple Festival Park, and as a Youth Summit Representative.

Her dedication to service and leadership reflects the values of Soroptimist and makes her a wonderful example of a Soroptimist Junior.

Following graduation, Madison plans to attend a four-year college to major in Pre-Law, with the goal of continuing on to law school.

We are proud to recognize Emily Fisher, a dedicated student at Somerset Area School District and the daughter of Lani Holland and Clark Fisher.

Emily is an active member of the Interact Club, where she currently serves as Vice President. She generously gives her time as a volunteer, including participating in the Valentine’s Day Intergenerational Event at the Somerset Senior Center and serving as a reader for Elementary and Middle School academic competitions in History, Geography, Science, and Spelling.

Her commitment to service extends outdoors and into the community as well—Emily has assisted with hiking trail maintenance at the Quemahoning Recreation Area and supports local nonprofits as a social media manager for organizations such as the Stonycreek Rendezvous and the Stony-Kiski-Conemaugh Kayaking Sojourn.

Looking ahead, Emily plans to pursue a bachelor’s degree in neuroscience or biology, followed by medical school, with the goal of becoming a neurologist.

We commend Emily for her leadership, service, and ambition, and we look forward to all she will accomplish in the years ahead!
