Somerset Fire Crews were dispatched to traffic light 10 for a two vehicle rear end collision. On scene crews assisted EMS with patient care, blocked traffic and cleaned debris from the roadway. Somerset-Pulaski County EMS transported 1 patient to the hospital. Somerset Police also assisted on scene.

343 is the number of Firefighters lost on Sept 11th 2001 by the New York Fire Department (FDNY). We promised to never forget. Forget we have not! In the staircase at Central Station we honor those lost with this memorial, an American Flag for each one beside their name and rank.
Daily our crew members walk beneath this memorial that has now hung here for years.

Somerset Fire Crews were dispatched to an early morning commercial structure fire. Dispatch advised that the store was being evacuated. On scene Engine 2 reported smoke in the building. After an investigation it was determined to be a faulty HVAC unit with a broken belt that caused smoke in the vents. Crews disconnected the unit and set up ventilation on the building. Also assisting on scene was Ferguson and Parker’s Mill Volunteer Fire Departments and Somerset-Pulaski County EMS.

Somerset Fire Crews were dispatched to E Hwy 80/ Garner Rd for a two vehicle collision involving a commercial vehicle. While in route dispatched confirmed entrapment on the passenger vehicle. On scene crews set up vehicle stabilization using Res-Q-Jacks, and began patient care along with EMS. Using rescue tools commonly known as “Jaws of Life” crews removed the roof of the vehicle to gain access to the passenger compartment allowing for patient extraction. Somerset-Pulaski County EMS transported one patient to the hospital. Somerset Police and Safety Officers assisted on the scene. Crews cleaned a large debris field and State Highway Dept brought sand in to put down on the road to clean up fluids.
