Somerset Fire Crews were dispatched to the 1500 block of E Hwy 1248 for a dumpster fire. On scene crews quickly extinguished the fire that appeared to have been accidentally started.

Somerset Fire Crews were dispatched to the 100 block of Water Cliff Drive to assist Parker’s Mill Volunteer Fire Department for a reported structure fire. The home owner called 911 reporting smoke in the home after hearing a loud pop. On scene crews found light smoke in the home and was able to find that there had been an electrical fire in the HVAC unit. Crews shut off power to the unit and set up positive pressure fans for ventilation. Also assisting on scene was Burnside Volunteer Fire Department.

Today Somerset Fire Crews joined other community partners at Texas Roadhouse for their 3rd Annual Back to School Bash.
While the school age children were able to come and get supplies for the upcoming school year, they also was able to have fun with bouncy houses, and visiting with community first responders.

As we close out an unbelievable chapter at Somerset Fire Department, I want to thank my command staff, that is leaving out and starting a new chapter of their life. As the Chief, I can’t thank you all enough for your support and we are better because of your hard work, leadership and stellar service. Your departure marks the end of an era, but the foundation you built will sustain our department for decades to come. True leadership is not measured merely by objectives met or missions accomplished. It is measured by the character and unity instilled in the ranks. Throughout your tenure, you modeled these traits daily. You met challenges with a steady resolve and turned many high-pressure situations into examples of strategy and composure. You never chose the easy path over the right path and that integrity shaped the culture of this entire command. Most of all your greatest legacy is the people you leave behind. You did not just manage personnel; you developed leaders and by doing that, our transition is made very easy. I’m sure your crews will agree that the confidence we carry into future is a direct result of your mentorship. Mike, Chris and Sam-I want to thank you for your dedication to our mission. As you all transition to this next chapter, do so with pride of knowing your impact is permanent. Lastly, thank you for being great friends and mentors and I wish you all and your families the very best in your retirement.

Somerset Fire Department participated in the Somernites Soap Box Derby today! The event was presented by Somernites Cruise, Readers to Leaders, Urban Stillhouse, and the Somerset-Pulaski County Chamber of Commerce.
Although we didn’t take first place, we had a blast in a friendly, competitive race against our friends at EMS, who pulled out the victory. We’re still thrilled to have been a part of it and had an excellent time. Mayor Keck was even talked into joining the fun—he was convinced to steer for us while we moved the cars to Urban Stillhouse for the awards ceremony!
Thank you to everyone who came out to show support; hopefully, we’ll be able to participate in the next one. A special thanks as well to our leadership at the Somerset Fire Department and the City of Somerset for allowing us to be involved in these community events.

Somerset Fire Crews were dispatched to the 3400 block of Hwy 39 for a two-vehicle accident with entrapment reported. On-scene crews found that all occupants were out of the vehicles. Two vehicles had collided and both left the roadway, with one striking a utility pole. Crews provided patient care, cleaned up debris, and blocked traffic. Also on scene were Somerset-Pulaski County EMS and Somerset Police.

Somerset Fire Crews were dispatched to N. Royal Ct. for a smoke investigation. On scene, crews found smoke coming from a wooded area. Crews used a drone to help locate the fire. The fire was found in an unoccupied homeless camp. Crews extinguished the fire before it could spread any further.

Somerset Fire Crews were dispatched to W. Hwy 80/Langdon St. for a two-vehicle collision. Crews assisted Somerset-Pulaski County EMS with assessing those involved, with all refusing treatment and transport. Also assisted with blocking traffic and cleaning up fluids on the roadway. Somerset Police and Safety Officers were also on the scene.
