🚁 Exciting news at KY3! 🎉

KY3 recently became a preceptor base for the Midwest region! What does that mean? New clinicians will come to Somerset for their third-seat orientation, learning alongside our experienced crew before heading to their home base to complete orientation in the second seat. We’re excited to help train the next generation of flight clinicians! 💙

And with that, we have someone new joining us! Everyone give a warm welcome to Luke! 👏

Luke is a paramedic with 6 years of experience who joins us from Sumner County EMS in Tennessee. He’ll be joining the KY8 crew in Glasgow after completing his orientation.

If you see Luke around, be sure to say hello and help us make him feel welcome! 🚁💙

🚁KY3 had a great time at the Somerset High School Career Fair! Jordan, Jess, and Josh enjoyed showing students what we do in Helicopter EMS and sharing how air medical transport helps provide critical care when and where it’s needed most.

🫁 One of the highlights? A pig lung hooked up to the same mechanical ventilator we use on the aircraft! It gave students a hands-on look at how we support patients who need help breathing. They also had the opportunity to practice their intubation skills on a mannequin head!

We love getting out into our community, providing hands-on learning experiences, and introducing the next generation to the world of air medical transport.💙🚁

🩺We had a great time at the health sciences career fair at Somerset Community College - Laurel Campus!

We loved getting the opportunity to connect with future nurses, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals and give them a glimpse into the world of flight medicine.

Students got hands-on with some of the skills and equipment we use in the field, including learning how to intubate, while also getting to ask questions and learn more about what it’s like to work as a flight clinician.

Events like this are a great way to introduce students to the many career paths available in healthcare — and who knows, we may have met some future flight nurses, flight medics, or other members of the KY3 team! 😉

Thank you to Somerset Community College – Laurel Campus for having us. We had a blast meeting everyone! 🚁💙

🚁 KY3 was on the scene for the First Responders Fair! 🚒🚑

We had a great time joining our fellow first responders and getting to meet members of the community. We even got to fly in for the event, giving everyone an up-close look at the aircraft and what we do in Helicopter EMS.

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by to visit with us, and to all of the first responders who work alongside us every day. We’re proud to serve alongside you! 💙

🚁 Leadership That Stays Connected to the Front Line!

We recently had the honor of having Kelly Miller, Vice President of Clinical Services at Air Methods, fly along with us at KY3!

Kelly has been with Air Methods for nearly 20 years. He began his nursing career as a cardiac nurse right here at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital before transitioning to flight nursing with Air Methods in 2007.

Throughout his career with Air Methods, Kelly has served as a Clinical Base Lead, Regional Clinical Director, and now Vice President of Clinical Services.

We appreciate Kelly taking the time to ride along with one of our crews and spend some time back in the aircraft. While Kelly knows the flight environment well from his own experience as a flight nurse, opportunities like this are a great reminder of the work our frontline teammates do every day and the challenges and rewards that come with caring for patients in the air.

Having leaders who make time to reconnect with the crews doing this work every day is a great reflection of how much Air Methods values its teammates.
