The Community Food Pantry Inc The community food pantry serves groceries to families from any surrounding towns in NH or Maine

During the month of March we had 466 family visits. The need is continuing to grow. Hopefully we will be able to continue providing the help that is so desperately needed. We have about 60 volunteers who pick up food from area grocery stores and help picking up and unloading truck loads of USDA food from NH and Maine as well as helping distribute the food to the families that need it.

This morning Pat & I drove up to Good Shepherd Food Bank and returned with 6,313.2 pounds of food for our food pantry. A big thankyou to Kevin Cavanaugh, Chris Muentener, Conrad Aubin, Brian Noel, John Vaughn, Neal and Nick Stacy, Gary Nolen, and Richard Shepherd who helped unload and store all of it.

A huge surprise and a heartfelt thank you to Anna Jasper who sent a get well card and Franciska Pomerleau who sent one signed by Robin Ricard and Priscilla Buzzell. While I was in the hospital Kevin and Conrad made sure Pat had transportation back and forth to the pantry and the hospital. Being involved in the pantry is not a job it is a pleasure.

Last week we picked p 4487 ponds of food from NH USDA in Barrington. Helping to unload it was Chris Muentener, Neal Stacey, Richard Shepherd, Brian Noel, John Vaughn with Pat & David Vachon. We had 93 families visit the pantry last week and the list does not look like it will start shrinking. Thank God we have the volunteers we have because there is no way we could keep up without them.

It has been a busy pantry this week. We served 27 families Monday, 47 families Wednesday and 43 families Thursday. Thanks so much to all the volunteers who made this happen. Not sure what will happen this coming Monday with the prospect of a major snow storm in the forecast.

It was nice having the pantry open Christmas and New Years weeks. We did not have huge number of families visit but the ones we did have were happy we were open. There are a number of families who depend on the pantry for all of their food and we are happy to be able to help them.

Because of the New Year holiday the food pantry will have different hours this coming week.
Monday we will be open our regular time from 10 AM till noon
Tuesday we will be open from 6 to 8 PM
Friday we will be open from 3 to 5 PM.
We hope everyone had a great Christmas and have a Happy New Year.

The food pantry is verry fortunate to have the help it has. There are 60 volunteers pick up from the grocery stores, unload the trucks when we get food from either NH USDA or Good Shepherd food bank and the people who donate financially. Without the help from all of these people we could not serve the clients who badly need food.

The Community Food Pantry staff would like to thank Sudip Verma for his generous donation of $750.00 in memory of Vijay Gainedy a Somersworth resident who passed away recently. Your donation will help provide healthy, nutritious food to many neighbors in need.

The Community Food Pantry staff would like to thank Sudip Verma for his generous donation of $750.00 in memory of Vijay Gainedy a Somersworth resident who passed away recently. Your donation will help provide healthy, nutritious food to many neighbors in need. Without people like this and the sixty volunteers who help serve the families in need, pick up from the area grocery stores each week or help unload food from the box trucks that return from either NH USDA or the Maine good Shepherd food bank.
