Chambres Park update: The federal government has authorized Somerville to hire an engineering firm to survey the property's boundaries and terrain. That survey is now underway. Once the survey is complete, the next steps are a wetlands review, followed by development of schematic plans.

Calling all young soccer fans! Fall Soccer Clinic and Games, offered in partnership with NJ Santos FC Rush, is for kids ages 4 to 7 who live or attend school in Somerville.

Games take place Saturdays, September 12 to October 17, at the Carol Pager Sports Complex. Choose from morning sessions, 9 to 10 am or 10 to 11 am.

Cost is $66 for 6 weeks (includes a t-shirt). Registration is open until September 3. Space is limited, so don't wait.

The Somerville YMCA is offering free water safety classes for Somerville residents at Michael Lepp Pool (Park Avenue) on August 10, 12, and 14.

Two sessions are available:
11 to 11:30 am
Safety Around Water (Parent & Me) for preschool children ages 3 to 5

11:30 am to 12 pm
Safety Around Water (children only), age 5

These classes help young children build comfort and confidence in and around the water while learning essential safety skills in a supportive environment. Space is limited.

Big changes are coming to Carol Pager Park! Work begins in August on a project to improve the ballfields, including a relocated baseball field, new walkways, drainage upgrades, dugouts, bleachers, fencing, a backstop, and new outfield sod.

We're looking forward to National Night Out this year! Join us at Carol Pager Park on Tuesday, August 4 from 6 to 8 pm for free admission, music, games, and refreshments for the whole family.

This year's event features live performances by Elite Dance Center, School of Rock, and Black Belt World, plus a dunk tank provided by Somerville Recreation. Free hot dogs, drinks, and snacks will be provided by our community partners.

Somerset County and the Somerset Patriots are hosting a free Back to School Resource Event at TD Bank Ballpark in Bridgewater on Saturday, August 8, from 10 am to 1 pm. No ticket is required.

Families can pick up free school supplies and backpacks while supplies last, get a free box of food, and connect with more than 20 local agencies offering help with healthcare, childcare costs, financial assistance, and other support services.
