George Washington's Revolutionary War headquarters in Somerville is getting a major glow-up. The Wallace House, where Washington spent the winter of 1778-79, is undergoing a $4 million restoration as New Jersey gears up for America's 250th birthday.
It's part of a massive $130 million push to preserve historic sites across the state, funded through Corporate Business Tax revenue, public-private partnerships, and federal tax credits.
The state has owned the property since 1947, and crews are working to keep its original character intact while bringing it back to life for another 250 years.
