There are many unsung heroes who help make the National a success, and Greg Tapp—an EMT with the Fayette County Emergency Medical Services—is one of them.
Amazingly, Greg has missed riding only one brace of the National since 1993. His dedication and commitment over the years have been nothing short of remarkable. Throughout his long service, Greg’s extensive training and calm professionalism have been called upon many times along the course. In several of those critical moments, his presence and swift action made the difference between life and death.
Thank you, Greg, for your unwavering service, your countless hours of commitment, and for helping make riding in the National a safer experience for us all. Your work does not go unnoticed, and we are deeply grateful.

Our crews are working hard to respond to all calls as quickly as we can. Please do not venture out if not absolutely necessary as anything can happen on these roads. They are improving, but will be days before things are routinely passable.

Edited to add that BOTH lights mentioned below are now functional and SR 460 is open all the way through from S Main St to Highway 64.

The traffic light on Highway 64 at SR 460 (the new bypass), just west of Fayette Academy, is now functioning. It was previously only a flashing light.

Also, the traffic light on S Main St at SR 460 (Formerly Justice Dr) is expected to be fully operational by this afternoon.

Please use caution in these areas as it will take much getting used to for all.

These traffic lights are installed and maintained at the direction of TDOT.
Kindly refrain from posting the gripes and complaints here. We do not make the rules.

Please don’t attempt to traverse water covered roads.

Please treat every road as if it is flooded. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DRIVE THROUGH STANDING/FLOWING WATER. You don't want to swim tonight and neither do we.
Here is an image of the latest list received from dispatch, but again, treat every road as hazardous.

Today we said Happy Retirement to Donna Walker. She has been with us since we came to be run by the Fayette County government in 2002. She has seen many employees come and go and even seen children of employees grow up to become employees themselves.

Enjoy your retirement Donna and don’t be a stranger. Congratulations!
