🇺🇸 A special day for the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office! 🇺🇸

Today, we gathered at the CJC for a very meaningful occasion as Sheriff Bobby Riles and the men and women of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office took their oaths of office.

Sheriff Riles has served as our Sheriff since 2006, but his dedication to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office began many years before he took the oath as Sheriff. His years of service to this agency and to the citizens of Fayette County are a testament to his commitment to this community. We are incredibly proud to have him continue to lead our agency and grateful for the experience, dedication, and commitment he brings to the job every day.

Our deputies also reaffirmed their oath today, a promise to serve, protect, and do their very best for the people and communities we call home.

Today wasn't just about taking an oath. It was about honoring the responsibility that comes with wearing the badge and recognizing the commitment each of these men and women of law enforcement have made to Fayette County.

Congratulations, Sheriff Riles and all of our deputies! We are proud to stand alongside you and look forward to what’s ahead.

Riding an ATV/UTV on county roads is legal in Tennessee, but not without the right precautions. Your vehicle must be road-legal with proper registration and title, and you must obey all traffic signs and signals, just like you would in a car or on a motorcycle.

For safety, wear a helmet for both off-road adventures and driving on pavement.

Never operate an ATV while impaired.

Never leave your dog in a hot car! Even with the windows cracked, the temperature inside can rise quickly, putting your pet’s life at risk. Keep your furry friends safe and leave them at home, or take them with you when you leave the vehicle.

As drivers, it’s important to know that children’s eyesight is still developing, and that they are more likely to act impulsively. If you see a child walking near the road or in a parking lot, don’t assume they can see you right away. Pay attention to your surroundings and always be ready to brake for someone’s safety!

As students return to school, please slow down and stay alert, especially around school buses and bus stops.

Passing a stopped school bus when the red lights are flashing and the stop arm is extended is against the law. Drivers in both directions are required to stop, except when the roadway is divided by a physical median, such as a concrete barrier or grass divider.

Violating this law in Tennessee can lead to a fine and add 8 points to your driver's license.

Please join us in congratulating Deputy Harley McClellan on successfully completing the TLETA Basic Police Academy, Class 2142!

Over the course of this intensive program, Class 2142 underwent rigorous training designed to prepare them for the demands of law enforcement. The academy focuses on critical areas such as criminal law, patrol procedures, defensive tactics, fi****ms proficiency, emergency vehicle operations, and community policing. Cadets are challenged both physically and mentally, developing the discipline, integrity, and professionalism required to serve and protect their communities.

We are proud of Deputy McClellan's dedication, perseverance, and commitment to excellence. Congratulations on this outstanding achievement and welcome to the next chapter of your law enforcement career!
