Over the past week, our SROs had a great time being a part of the career fairs held at Oakland Elementary, Buckley-Carpenter Elementary , and West Jr. High. They spoke to the students about good decision making, the importance of law enforcement, and the path to becoming a sheriff’s deputy. We appreciate the schools’ warm welcome and look forward to future collaborations.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office extends our sincere appreciation to Fayette County Public Schools for taking time yesterday, during their board meeting, to recognize the dedication of our School Resource Officers. Our SROs are proud to serve the teachers, staff, and students of this community, and this acknowledgment means a great deal.

A special congratulations goes to Deputy Brian Bermudez, who was named SRO of the Year for his exceptional service at East Junior High. His commitment to building relationships and keeping students safe is truly commendable.

We are grateful for our partnership with FCPS and for the opportunity to serve our schools each day.

Motorcyclists share the road and follow the same traffic rules as drivers. Since motorcycles are smaller than a car and harder to see at a distance, it’s important to exercise caution for their safety, especially when merging or turning.

This Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month, we’re encouraging Tennesseans to SLOW DOWN and for drivers to for motorcyclists!

It’s National Telecommunicators Week, and we want to take a moment to recognize, individually, our dispatchers at the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office.

Samantha — our floor supervisor. The one who keeps things moving, handles what needs to be handled, and keeps the center running when it matters most.

Gabby — always smiling, always bringing good energy, and somehow keeping everyone laughing on even the toughest days.

Barbie — genuine care in everything she does. Every caller matters to her, and it shows.

Aynastacia — our longest-tenured dispatcher. Experienced, steady, and always focused on officer safety and doing the job right.

Cindy — detail-oriented and committed to doing things correctly, while continuing to grow and improve in her role(and always brings the coolest snacks)

Jessie — dependable and selfless, always stepping in where she’s needed and making sure her coworkers are supported.

Dai — consistent and reliable. First one in, and someone you never have to wonder about.

Jessica — strong and steady, carrying her own personal loss this year while still showing up and giving her best to this job and her team.

Laney — our youngest dispatcher with a big personality and plenty of energy (and yes, the lizard stories are real).

Chastney — showing up, putting in the work, and continuing to develop in this role while bringing plenty of sass and class.

Veronica —while she has just stepped into a new chapter at home, we still want to recognize her time and contribution here.

Athena — soon to officially start with us, already showing excitement to be part of this team.

This is a strong group. I dare say the BEST group we have seen in this agency. Not perfect, not easy , just solid people who show up and do the job when it counts.

Some days this job only works because of what you all do behind the scenes. We don’t take that for granted. A "thank you" could never be enough !
