FEMA will be adding a second week for Fayette County residents to apply for funding assistance related to damages from Winter Storm Fern.

If your home or property was impacted by Winter Storm Fern, FEMA representatives will be available to answer questions and assist with the application process.

The SBA will also have representatives available to provide information and assistance regarding low-interest disaster loans for homeowners, renters, businesses, and nonprofits.

Notification of Road Closureโ€ฆ A section of Ballard Rd. north of Highway 57 is closed indefinitely following a commercial vehicle accident that damaged the railroad bridge, causing a collapse. Consequently, Norfolk Southern has halted train traffic on this primary route.

Today marked a major milestone for Fayette County as we proudly attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Baptist Fayette Hospital in Somerville.

This project represents a significant step forward for the health, safety, and future of our community. Access to quality healthcare close to home is vital, and this new facility will make a lasting impact for generations to come.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to our county commissioners, Mayor Skip Taylor, and everyone involved in making this vision a reality. Your dedication and commitment to Fayette County are truly appreciated.

โ— Bottom Line Up Front: An Enhanced Risk (level 3 of 5) for severe storms is in
place today. There is potential for supercells to develop this afternoon with
severe storms continuing into the overnight hours. All severe weather hazards
are in play (damaging winds, large hail, and strong tornadoes).

โ— An Enhanced Risk (level 3 of 5) is in place for N MS and parts of E AR on
Tuesday. The primary threats are damaging winds and large hail with a
secondary threat of tornadoes.

โ— Storm total rainfall through Wednesday morning up to 2-3 inches.
Widespread flooding concerns are not anticipated due to a recent lack of
rainfall and ongoing drought conditions.
