Since 2020, Gonzalo Puigbo has led the Somerville Community Corporation with a deep and steady commitment to our mission. Under his leadership, SCC built a partnership with Reframe Systems that culminated in the Cross Street modular housing project, opened our Computer Lab and Digital Equity program serving hundreds each year, launched the Women's Empowerment Program, and advanced the redevelopment of Clarendon Hill. Just as importantly, Gonzalo built a strong, connected staff culture that carries this work forward every day.

Congratulations, Gonzalo. Thank you so much for everything you've built with us here in Somerville. We can't wait to see what you do next!

Meet Requina, our new Homeownership and Financial Specialist.
Requina helps individuals and families build financial stability, prepare for homeownership, and make confident decisions about their financial futures.
With a background in social work, mental health, and education, she brings compassion and cultural responsiveness to every coaching conversation, along with a deep understanding of the barriers that can stand in the way of financial security.
Requina holds a Master of Social Work and a bachelor's degree in psychology.

Did you know? SCC's two Digital Navigators help hundreds of residents get online, apply for jobs, and build the digital skills needed for school and work, in English, Spanish, Haitian Creole, and Portuguese.

SCC was at the State House today, standing with tenants in support of rent control. Yesterday's court ruling took the question off the November ballot, but it does not change the challenges families across the Commonwealth are facing: skyrocketing rents and neighbors being pushed out of our communities. The fight for stable, affordable housing does not end with one ruling. We are urging our legislators to act, and we will keep showing up until tenants have real protection from displacement.

SCC is looking for a Homeownership & Financial Specialist to join our Asset Building team. You'd lead our First-Time Homebuyer seminars and Financial Literacy classes, and coach Somerville residents one-on-one as they build budgets, repair credit, and work toward owning a home.

If you love helping people reach big financial milestones and want to be part of a small team with a big heart, this one's for you.

HUD Homebuyer Counseling Certificate required.

Bilingual candidates (Spanish, Portuguese, or Haitian Creole) especially encouraged to apply. Full-time, $53–56K.
