We're so proud of SCC board member Courtney Brunson, who spoke at Boston Indicators' "Housing, Land Use, and Building Reform" forum at the The Boston Foundation

The morning focused on the rules that make it so hard to build small multifamily homes like triple-deckers and townhouses. For generations, these were the homes that gave working families a first foothold in our region, and in Somerville, they still shape our neighborhoods.

When we make it possible to build the homes people need, we open doors to stability, homeownership, and wealth that lasts for generations.

Thank you to everyone who came out to the Clarendon Hill BBQ on Saturday. Good food, good music, and a whole lot of neighbors, including Mayor Jake Wilson, catching up in the sun. These are the afternoons that remind us what this work is actually for: not just units and financing, but our community.

Thank you to our partners at POAH for helping make it happen, and to every resident, family, and friend who showed up. We are already looking forward to the next one!

We're excited to welcome Sasha Purpura as Interim CEO!

Sasha brings 15 years of nonprofit leadership to SCC, most recently at Daily Table, a nonprofit making healthy food affordable and accessible, and before that as CEO of Food For Free, where she grew the organization from a Cambridge-based food rescue nonprofit into a regional powerhouse serving 150,000 residents across Eastern Massachusetts.

Sasha's track record of supporting community-centered organizations and her ability to build lasting impact make her a great fit to guide SCC forward.

Since 2020, Gonzalo Puigbo has led the Somerville Community Corporation with a deep and steady commitment to our mission. Under his leadership, SCC built a partnership with Reframe Systems that culminated in the Cross Street modular housing project, opened our Computer Lab and Digital Equity program serving hundreds each year, launched the Women's Empowerment Program, and advanced the redevelopment of Clarendon Hill. Just as importantly, Gonzalo built a strong, connected staff culture that carries this work forward every day.

Congratulations, Gonzalo. Thank you so much for everything you've built with us here in Somerville. We can't wait to see what you do next!
