Last night, Ofc Nikki, K9 Marco and our partners from the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office had the privilege of meeting a remarkable five year old girl who is beginning chemotherapy for the second time in her young life.

Her family and friends held a special pizza party for her before treatment begins today, and they requested a visit from K9 Basilone and our very own K9 Marco to help bring some comfort and joy. Knowing that her favorite color is pink, the Sheriff’s Office brought out their pink police car in her honor, hoping to brighten her evening and remind her just how loved she is.

It was truly an honor to be there with her… to see her strength, her smile, and her courage in the face of something unimaginable for a child.

We kindly ask our community to join us in keeping this brave little fighter in your thoughts and prayers as she begins her next battle. 💗

Do you have a Ring, Nest, or another type of doorbell / home security camera?

The Somerville Police Department is building a community camera network to help solve cases more quickly and keep our neighborhoods safe.

We invite you to register your camera with our database! Registration allows us to notify you about active cases in your area where your footage may help with investigations.

Please note: The Police Department will not have direct access to your cameras. We will only contact you if we believe your footage could assist in cases such as home invasions, burglaries, or other matters.

Together, we can make Somerville a safer place for everyone!

The Somerville Police Department is pleased to announce the completion of the Family Friendly Interview Room at our new Police Headquarters!

This initiative was made possible through the generous contributions of community members and local businesses who donated items to help create a welcoming and supportive environment for families, victims, witnesses, and particularly those with young children.

The Family Friendly Interview Room was designed to promote comfort, reduce stress, and foster open communication during interviews. Importantly, this project was completed without the use of tax resources, relying entirely on community support.

We extend our sincere appreciation to everyone who contributed to this effort. Your partnership and generosity reflect the strong community spirit that defines Somerville and helps us provide a more compassionate and inclusive space for those we serve.

This sweet pup was found near the skate park off Veterans Memorial.
Looks well-cared-for and is very friendly — we’d love to get them home! 🐾❤️

The Somerville Police Department will be conducting active shooter training today at Vanderveer School after school hours.

You may see an increased police presence in the area, but please know this is only a training.

We appreciate the public’s cooperation and understanding as we continue working to keep our schools and community safe.
