The Cardiology Department at RWJ Somerset will be conducting its annual cardiac screening for high school athletes. The screening evaluates athletes for risk of sudden cardiac arrest and will take place on Saturday, February 7, from 8 am to 12 pm, in the cardiology section of the hospital.

The screening is free and open to athletes ages 14 through 18. Students or family members must call in advance to reserve a time slot.

8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Cardiac Diagnostic Testing Department, free A free cardiac screening is being offered to young athletes ages 14 to 18. This screening can help to determine those at risk for sudden cardiac arrest. For an appointment, please call 908-685-2414.

We are pleased to share the results of the 10th annual Somerville 5K Turkey Trot, held on Thanksgiving morning. This year, the event welcomed 1,573 participants and generated over $40,000 in support of recreation programs, events, and facilities.

We extend our sincere appreciation to everyone who contributed to this year’s success, including participants, volunteers and sponsors. Thank you for the strong community support that has helped the Turkey Trot to grow over the past decade. We look forward to continuing this tradition and welcoming everyone back next year.

🦃 The Turkey Trot is almost here! 🏃🏽‍♀️ This beloved Somerville tradition will take place on Thursday, Nov 27. It always attracts many runners, so our friends at Somerville Recreation encourage participants to avoid long race day lines by taking advantage of pre-race packet pick-up on Sunday, Nov 23 from 10am to 1pm at the Somerset County Regional Farmers Market (Somerville NJ Middle School parking lot, corner of West High St & Davenport St). Participants can pick up multiple packets for family members and friends or designate others to do so. Lines are organized alphabetically – please make sure you’re in the correct line.

Parking is available in municipal lots # 1 & 2 with access from Davenport Street.

Road Closures: Please note there will be temporary road closures and traffic delays along the race route during the event, from approximately 8:45 to 10 am. We appreciate your patience and cooperation in helping ensure a safe and enjoyable event for everyone.

Proceeds: All proceeds benefit Somerville Recreation Department programs, facilities, and community events for all ages.
