Fayette County Firefighter recruit class has ongoing training today in Oakland east of Kroger. At 7405 Hwy 64. This class is combined of Fayette County Volunteer Firefighters as well as Somerville Volunteer Firefighters.

Today, Fayette County Fire, Emergency Management, and the Sheriff’s Department conducted a powerful mock drunk driving simulation aimed at raising awareness about the dangers of impaired driving.

Students from Fayette-Ware, Fayette Academy, and Rossville Academy witnessed a realistic emergency response scenario — from the initial 911 call, to rescuing victims trapped in the wreckage, to transporting patients by ambulance and medical helicopter, and finally, the arrest of the DUI driver.

This impactful demonstration was designed to leave a lasting impression, especially as prom season approaches. Our hope is that this experience encourages students to make safe, responsible choices — not just during prom, but for life

I wish to correct a huge failure of recognition of another agency that was instrumental in making all of this happen. MID SOUTH TOWING was asked to provide two cars for this event. Not only did they provided those cars without a question, but delivered them to the scene of this demonstration, and picked them up immediately after. They are a huge asset to our department and I wish to apologize for not including them in this post
