* WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with heat index values up to 116.

* WHERE...Portions of south central and southeast Texas.

* WHEN...Until 8 PM CDT this evening.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity will increase the
risk for heat related illnesses to occur, particularly for those
working or participating in outdoor activities.

This will be our last Sassy Summer School bus video. SISD starts back in 3 weeks and a day. Please watch for the kiddos!

In Texas you HAVE to stop for a school bus loading or unloading children in both directions unless the highway is divided by a barrier or grass median. This prevents vehicles from entering the turn lane and turning in front or behind the bus possibly striking a child.

BERTHA seems to really want to take a summer trip along the Gulf Coast, maybe do a quick stop around Bourbon Street, and then retire in the Brazos Valley 👵

Latest forecast track from the NHC places its center of circulation (or what's left of it) somewhere in or near our area by late Friday night into Saturday morning.

WHAT DOES THAT MEAN FOR US: A slight bump in rain chances Thursday to Sunday, and perhaps an added breeze during that time. We REALLY do not expect much here, but after a week of at/near triple digit temps, we could use a few scattered showers. The lopsided nature of this storm should persist even into our area, meaning most (or maybe even all) convection will be SOUTH of the center of circulation.

As always, we're keeping you updated throughout the week! But other than a few downpours, doesn't look like we'll need to prepare for much else for now.
