This public form is ONLY for additional shirts being purchased by parents, family members, alumni, community members, supporters, etc.

Please have all orders in by Sept. 4th. Checks should be made out to SLS FFA. Payments can be dropped off at Somonauk High School, please make sure they are labeled with your information!

Somonauk Leland Sandwich FFA had a great time hosting a small petting zoo today in celebration of Resource Bank’s 125th Anniversary in Somonauk!

A huge thank you to everyone who brought animals and to everyone who stopped by to say hi. We loved being part of such a special celebration! 💙💛

✈️ Building a Better Airplane! ✈️

Mrs. Bochniak’s BSAA classes put the scientific method into action during the “Building a Better Airplane Experiment!”Students worked in groups to design and conduct their own experiments to determine how they could make a paper airplane fly farther.

Each group selected an independent variable to test, made their predictions, tested their designs, collected data, and, of course, let their airplanes fly!

It was a hands-on way to see how ag scientists use questions, experimentation, and data to find answers. It was also a great way to kick off the year with some fun ag science!

Congratulations to Lewis Anderson on being selected to represent Somonauk-Leland-Sandwich and Illinois in the National FFA Chorus at the National FFA Convention in October, for the SECOND year in a row!! 🎶

He will head to Indianapolis the weekend before convention and spend the entire week performing with the National FFA Chorus at sessions and other special performances! We are so proud of you Lewis!

Our Pumpkin Plot is is starting to look very colorful!

Our FFA members have been working hard all summer caring for our pumpkin plot, and it’s exciting to see their hard work starting to pay off! From planting and weeding to keeping an eye on those growing vines, our students have put in plenty of time and effort to make this crop a success.

Our first pumpkin sales will be at the Sandwich Fair! After the fair, we’ll continue selling pumpkins at Somonauk High School, so be sure to keep an eye out for more details!

We can’t wait to share the harvest with our community and show off what our FFA members have grown!

During this month’s chapter meeting, we were proud to welcome over 150 members and parents in attendance! We recognized member achievements and awards and discussed leadership camp, State Convention, summer workdays, and many other important chapter activities. We also shared information about upcoming events and opportunities for our members.

While parents and guardians learned more about our chapter and Ag Department, our members enjoyed a fun game of kickball!

Thank you to all of our members, parents & guardians, and supporters for helping make our chapter meeting a great success! And a huge thank you to the Somonauk Leland Sandwich FFA Alumni for providing the delicious meal! 💙💛

We’re so excited to welcome Mrs. Sissom back to the SLS Agriculture Program, this time as a teacher!

Mrs. Sissom was once a student in our program and an active member of SLS FFA, and now she’s returning to help inspire and teach the next generation of agriculture students.

We couldn’t be more excited to have her back where it all started! Welcome home, Mrs. Sissom!

Jessica Sissom has come back to our SHS Ag department. She will also spend some time at Leland teaching Introduction to Agriculture courses. She graduated from SHS and ISU and loves watching students grow as leaders and as people throughout their high school years. Mrs Sissom was raised on the family farm and has shown livestock since she was three years old.

Our Chapter Kickoff meeting is this Wednesday, 8/19 from 6:30-8pm in the Somonauk Middle Cafeteria! This meeting is a great opportunity to hear about all the exciting opportunities that lie ahead in FFA for the 2026-2027 school year. We will be sharing information, introducing chapter officers, previewing upcoming events, and answering any questions that you may have. The Somonauk Leland Sandwich FFA Alumni will be providing dinner for the evening! All members and family are invited.
