Over the past week, several Sonoma Valley Fire District members attended CA-219 through the Santa Rosa Junior College Fire Technology Program, while two SVFD members assisted with instruction.
Led by Northern Sonoma County Fire Protection District Fire Chief Turbeville, CA-219 provides firefighters with the knowledge and skills needed to safely and effectively conduct firing operations in support of prescribed fire and wildfire suppression activities.
Training opportunities like CA-219 help ensure our personnel remain prepared to support wildfire mitigation efforts, prescribed fire projects, and all-hazard incident response throughout Sonoma Valley and beyond.
Thank you to Santa Rosa Junior College, Chief Turbeville, and all of the instructors who helped make this valuable training possible.

The Sonoma Valley Fire District is excited to announce that the Kenwood Fire Station remodel is moving forward, supported in part by a $1 million federal Community Project Funding grant secured through Representative Mike Thompson.

Originally built in 1964, the station has served the Kenwood community for decades. This approximately $8 million project will modernize the facility to support today’s 24/7 staffing model while preserving its role as a community gathering place.

Planned improvements include firefighter dorms, updated living quarters, larger apparatus bays, improved emergency access to Highway 12, and significant safety and operational upgrades.

The station’s community room and kitchen will remain available for voting, meetings, and community events, including the annual Kenwood Firefighters Association Crab Feed.

Construction is expected to begin this fall, with emergency response services continuing uninterrupted throughout the project.

The rendering shown is a concept of what the remodeled station will look like upon completion.

Thank you to Representative Mike Thompson, retired Chief Bob Uboldi, Deputy Chief Bob Norrbom, Tony Ghisla, COAR Design Group, Isom Advisors, and the many community members who helped make this project possible.
