FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 545 PM CDT THIS AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...Arroyo and small stream flooding caused by excessive
rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...A portion of west central Texas, including the following
counties, Crockett and Sutton.

* WHEN...Until 545 PM CDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 242 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms over southeast Crockett and northwest Sutton
counties. Movement was northeast at 30 mph. This will cause
arroyo and small stream flooding. Up to 0.75 inches of rain
have fallen.
- Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected
over the area. This additional rain will result in minor
flooding.

Sonora, The Intersection Of Us-277 And Ranch Road 189, The
Intersection Of I-10 And Ranch Road 1989, I-10 Near The
Crockett-Sutton County Line, The Intersection Of Ranch Road

At 119 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from 6 miles northwest of The Intersection Of
Highway 158 And Ranch Road 2059 to near Grape Creek to Tankersley to
9 miles south of The Intersection of Ranch Road 2083 And Highway 405.
Movement was northeast at 40 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and half inch hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
possible.

San Angelo, Ballinger, Winters, Eldorado, Robert Lee, Sterling City,
Mertzon, Blackwell, Christoval, Ozona, Maverick, Nolan, Bronte,
Miles, E.V. Spence Reservoir Near Paint Creek Recreation Area,

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

These storms may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio

A las 11:19 p. m. CDT, el radar Doppler detectaba fuertes tormentas eléctricas a lo largo de
una línea que se extendía desde 6 millas al noroeste de la intersección de
la autopista 158 y Ranch Road 2059 hasta cerca de Grape Creek, pasando por Tankersley, hasta

Schleicher, Sterling, Sutton, Taylor and Tom Green.

* WHEN...Through this evening.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- A line of showers and thunderstorms will move through West
Central Texas late morning through this evening. Heavy
rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are possible as the storms
move through, A few areas may see up to 5 inches. With soils
already saturated, rainfall will quickly run off and produce
flash flooding. Low water crossings, city streets, and other
flood prone and low lying areas will be particularly
susceptible.

SITUATION SUMMARY
The National Weather Service and the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) have highlighted West and South-Central Texas for an active weather cycle beginning this afternoon. Sutton County is positioned under a Slight Risk (Level 2 of 5) for severe thunderstorms today. Atmospheric moisture is surging into the area, shifting the primary hazard profile to severe weather and torrential rainfall.
Concurrently, a Slight Risk (Level 2 of 4) for flash flooding is in effect for much of Texas starting today and extending through Wednesday, May 27. This influx of moisture effectively suppresses the recent critical fire threats locally.

Heads up folks...severe weather possibilities for this afternoon and evening for much of West Central Texas, especially areas south of I-20. We are expecting some hit and miss storms this morning, but the main activity arrives for the afternoon and evening as a line of strong/severe storms rolls across the area. Right now we expect the storms to reach San Angelo/Sweetwater/Ozona by 1-4 PM, Abilene/Eldorado/Sonora 3-6 PM, and Coleman/Brady/Brownwood/Mason/Junction by 5-9 PM.

This line of storms will have pockets of big storms in it, with large hail of golf ball to baseball size the main concern along with damaging winds. There is a real tornado threat with these storms as well, especially for areas around Ozona, Eldorado, Sonora, and the southwest Concho Valley.

The line will be moving fairly quickly as it moves across the area, but heavy rainfall is still going to be a concern. Areas that have received heavy rainfall the last 3-5 days can't take much more before flash flooding will occur. Fully expect the creeks, streams, and draws to be running hard and flood many low water crossings, city streets, and other low lying areas as the line moves through.

We will try to keep you updated as we head through the rest of the morning and see if anything changes.

Thunderstorms are expected to develop early Tuesday afternoon and continue through Tuesday night. Some storms may be strong to severe with large to very large hail and damaging winds. There is a low tornado risk.
