Another accomplished week for Public Works Crews! County wide projects included shoulder backing on Twist Road, Columbia Street, and Draper Mine Rd, tree removal on North Tuolumne Road, and mote.

UPCOMING ROAD CLOSURE ⚠️ Please be advised that there will be a full road closure in effect from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm on Lime Kiln Road from Jacobs Road to Murphy Road from Monday, August 31, 2026 to Monday, September 14, 2026 while Sinclair General Engineering Construction, Inc. completes roadwork associated with the new bridge.

The detour used for this closure will be from Jacobs Road through Wards Ferry Road and Murphy Road. Residents and services will maintain access during this period with delays.

Please be aware of all construction signs and/or traffic control personnel in the construction zone.

Tuolumne County Road Crews will be performing road paving operations necessitating a full closure on the following county-maintained roads:

• Columbia Street from Yankee Hill Road to Parrotts Ferry Road

Work is anticipated to take place from Monday, August 17, 2026 to Wednesday August 26, 2026 from the hours of 6:00AM to 4:00PM.

Residents will continue to have access to their driveways with delays of up to 20 minutes.

Emergency response vehicles and personnel will continue to have access throughout the duration of the closure.

Please be aware of all construction signs and/or traffic control personnel in the construction
zone.

The public can continue to monitor road closures on Tuolumne County Website at

Annual Household Hazardous Waste & Paint Collection Event (Groveland, CA) ♻️ On Saturday, August 22, 2026, between 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM, Tuolumne County Public Works Department, Solid Waste Division will be holding a Household Hazardous Waste and Paint Collection event for residents and qualifying businesses. The event will be held in Big Oak Flat at the Tuolumne County Road Operations/Road Maintenance Yard, located just off Highway 120. Please enter from Catholic Cemetery Road and follow the signs.

This is the time to safely dispose of any old and unwanted cleaners, paints, pesticides, pool chemicals, contaminated motor oil and gasoline taking up space around the garage, house, and/or yard.

Appointments are not necessary for residential drop-off; however, for qualifying businesses, an appointment to drop off hazardous waste is required. Please call Clean Earth at (800)
207-8222 for general questions or to determine if you are a qualifying business.

Partial Road Closure ⚠️ Please be advised that there will be a one-lane closure in effect on Lime Kiln Road near Kennedy Road and Es La Vida Road on Thursday, August 6th from 1 AM to noon while Sinclair General Engineering Construction, Inc. pours the concrete deck of the new bridge. Flaggers will be present to direct traffic during this time.

It was another week of progress for our Public Works crews last week. Projects included paving, stenciling, drainage repair, hot patching, brushing, and more.

Residents impacted by the Dove Fire are eligible for free dump disposal coupons to help with cleanup efforts.

These coupons allow for the free disposal of up to 2 cubic yards of spoiled food or smoke-damaged household waste. If you’ve already received a Keep Tuolumne Clean coupon this year, you are still eligible for this additional assistance if you were affected by the Dove Fire.

Coupons are available at the Tuolumne County Public Works – Solid Waste Division, 48 Yaney Ave., 3rd Floor, Sonora.

Please note that burn debris and hazardous waste are not accepted with these coupons.
