Last week, our Fire & Rescue crew had the opportunity to train 2,341 feet below the surface at the Lake Vermilion - Soudan Underground Mine State Park! Training for an emergency within the mine is especially important with the underground tours finally back up and running after several years of dormancy. Thanks for all you do fire fighters!

We are monitoring about a half a dozen fires throughout the county. All are under control at this time with the exception of a larger fire near Gilbert. Air Support is helping suppress that fire and no evacuations are necessary at this time. Please remain vigilant and stay safe. Please stay clear of all of these incidents and allow our incredible fire crews do their job and stay safe.

Residents & Visitors: Church Street will be closed near the Soudan Park on Friday, May 8th beginning at Noon and lasting until approximately 4 PM. The entrance to Soudan will still be accessible, but drivers will need to use Birch Street. Use of Main Street or Jasper Street to enter or leave Soudan is recommended. Thank you!

Stray Cats

It has been brought to the attention of the Breitung Town Board that there is an issue with stray/feral cats in town. Please do not feed stray/feral cats; we will consult with local animal assistance companies for removal of the cats. If you notice a large population of the cats in your area, please notify the clerk by emailing [email protected] or stopping in during office hours. Thank you.

Just announced: Baseball season officially starts tomorrow at Soudan's Memorial Legion ballfield! Come cheer on Ely-NE Range Junior High as they take on Mt. Iron-Buhl!

Its a double header starting at 4 PM on Thursday, April 30th!
