This week, after fighting a long battle with cancer, our own Ann Moran passed away.

Ann is reposing at O.B. Davis, Port Jefferson Station. Visitation will be on Wednesday July 6th and Thursday July 7th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. There will be a funeral Mass on Friday at 10 AM at St. Louis de Montfort.

It's been a real privilege to serve as the president of the SB Fire Dept. Auxiliary and I am so grateful for all the support from the members of the fire department and in particular the most wonderful members of this organization. I look forward to continuing to work beside all of you. Last night a new Board was elected and I'd like to congratulate the officers.

The new co-presidents are Christina Curtin and Janine Fischer
The new treasurer is Joan Russo
Remaining on the board are the recording secretary Ernestine Franco and the corresponding secretary Maureen Strauch

We did it again! The Auxiliary of the Sound Beach Fire Department Margie Battillo Food Drive was a huge success. We collected several truckloads of food to benefit the St. Louis De Montfort outreach at a time of the year when pantry donations slow down. In addition we collected about $300 in cash and gift certificates. A special thanks goes to Christina Lombardi-Curtin for organizing the project. We also want to acknowledge the support of the Fire Department, without whose help this couldn't be done. Last but not least we are so grateful to all those who donated. We are blessed to be part of such a generous community.

Each year, with the help of the Department firefighters, we collect truckloads of food for those in need in our community. Stop by. Any donation will help. We will have a list of suggested foods.

In memoriam. This week the Auxiliary placed flags at firefighters' graves at Holy Sepulchre, Seaview, Washington Memorial, and Calverton National cemeteries. Here are some pictures from Calverton.

This Saturday at the installation dinner the members of the Auxiliary were privileged to recognize Lauren LoConte as the 2018 woman of the year. Lauren has been a member of the Auxiliary for more than 25 years and a member of the board for many of those years. A valued part of this organization, Lauren often steps up when things need to be done and always with a smile on her face. Congratulations, Lauren. this is so well deserved.
