Hurricane season is here, don't forget to prepare your pets, too. Before a storm threatens your area, make sure your pet emergency kit is packed and ready to go.
• Food, water, and medications — have several days of supplies stored in airtight, waterproof containers
• First aid supplies — a vet-approved pet first aid kit
• Identification and records — collar, ID tag, harness, leash (plus backups), and copies of registration and medical records
• Travel carrier — a crate or sturdy carrier for each pet
• Grooming and sanitation supplies — shampoo, litter, litter box, paper towels, trash bags, and bleach as needed
• Photo of you and your pet — helps verify ownership if separated
• Comfort items — favorite toys, treats, or bedding to reduce stress
