The South Barrington Police Department will conduct enhanced traffic enforcement from June 19th–July 6th, focusing on impaired and unbuckled drivers. 🚗💺

At Thursday's Board Meeting, Mayor McCombie proudly swore in Len Kleinjan as a Commissioner of the Planning and Zoning Board of Appeals.

We are grateful for Len's willingness to serve our community and volunteer his time and expertise. His dedication to public service will be a valuable asset to the Commission and the Village as a whole.

Due to the weather forecast and anticipated conditions, StreetFest at The Arboretum has been canceled for tonight.

The The Arboretum of South Barrington is currently working to reschedule the festival for a future date. Stay tuned for additional details and announcements regarding the new event date.

Due to the weather forecast, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the outdoor portion of StreetFest scheduled for tonight, Wednesday, June 10.

While the bands, live outdoor entertainment, and family activities will no longer take place, there is still plenty to enjoy at The Arb.

Many of our retailers will continue to offer special Street Fest discounts and promotions throughout the day, and restaurants will remain open indoors for guests to enjoy.

Mayor McCombie attended the Hoffman Estates Plan Commission meeting regarding the proposed rezoning of the 186-acre Plum Farms property, which would allow for the development of a data center. Speaking on behalf of South Barrington, she voiced strong opposition to the request, citing concerns that the proposed M-2 zoning is inconsistent with the long-term vision for the Route 72 and Route 59 corridor.

More than 400 people attended the meeting, with over 45 individuals providing public comments, all in opposition to the proposal. Following extensive public input, the Plan Commission voted 4-2 against the rezoning request. The matter will now move to the Hoffman Estates Village Board for final consideration.

"I will continue to keep everyone informed as this process moves forward. Thank you to the many residents of South Barrington, Hoffman Estates, Barrington Hills, and neighboring communities who attended the meeting, submitted letters, and voiced their opposition. Your engagement and advocacy played an important role in ensuring that community perspectives were clearly heard throughout this process," said Mayor McCombie.

Special delivery at the South Barrington Police Department!

We were grateful to receive these unique (and super cute) gifts from Grace's Gnomes and to learn the inspiring story of how Grace's Gnomes began. These special gnomes brought plenty of smiles to our department and are a wonderful reminder of the impact kindness can have in our community.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗩𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗛𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗘𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗺𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗱 𝗼𝗻 𝗪𝗲𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝟯, 𝗮𝘁 𝟲:𝟯𝟬 𝗽.𝗺.. A previous message incorrectly stated Tuesday; however, the meeting is scheduled for Wednesday.

The request seeks to change the zoning of approximately 186 acres from CMU (Commercial Mixed Use) and TN (Traditional Neighborhood) to M-2 (Manufacturing District). The property is generally located between Illinois Route 59 to the east, the Canadian National Railway to the west, Higgins Road (Route 72) to the south, and directly across from the Woods of South Barrington.

Residents interested in learning more about the proposal or providing public comment are encouraged to attend the meeting.
