🚒 Fire Prevention Week 2026! 🔥

Yesterday and today, South Beloit Fire Department crews had the opportunity to visit Riverview Elementary School and Clark Elementary School to spend time with students and teach them about fire prevention and safety!

We’re excited to be back in our local schools, connecting with students and sharing important fire safety lessons.

Thank you to both schools for welcoming our crews! We always enjoy getting out into the community and helping educate the next generation on fire safety!

The last few weeks were busy for our on-duty crews. Along with responding to calls, they completed multiple in-depth Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) drills, including training with our automatic-aid partners. Each shift also completed an additional RIT drill alongside our part-time members.

Captain Edgington, our Training Officer, attended an instructors conference in Peoria hosted by the Illinois Society of Fire Instructors. The conference gave him an opportunity to bring new ideas back to our training program and help him build the training plan for the year ahead.

These photos show some of the work our crews put in last week. We’re proud of their commitment to training and to serving the South Beloit community.

Tonight the South Beloit FD attended mutual aid training hosted at Harlem Roscoe’s training tower. We were very fortunate to train with neighboring departments which included Harlem Roscoe, City of Beloit, Rockton, North Park, and the City of Loves Park. Training included fire attack, search and rescue, incident command, Mayday’s, and RIT (Rapid Intervention Team. A huge thank you to Harlem Roscoe FD for hosting the training!

Tonight, members of the South Beloit Fire Department had the opportunity to spend some time at the high school for Post-Secondary Night!

It was a great opportunity to connect with students, share the rewarding experiences and career opportunities the fire service has to offer, and hopefully spark an interest in the next generation of firefighters and EMS professionals.

We even had the chance to talk with a few interested potential applicants!

Thank you for having us! we always enjoy the opportunity to connect with our community and share what makes the fire service such a worthwhile career. 🚒🔥

It’s not to late to see us! We’ll be here until 1900!

Today, our on-duty crews had the opportunity to train alongside our Auto Aid partners at Rockton Fire Protection District.

Crews spent time on apparatus familiarization and working through second-due engine tactics, helping strengthen coordination and ensure our departments are prepared to work seamlessly together when called upon.

It was a great opportunity to get out, train, and spend time with our neighbors. We appreciate RFPD for having us and look forward to more joint training opportunities in the future!
