Huge congratulations to our newest Parole Officers for graduating the parole academy today — a milestone earned through weeks of intense, demanding, and purpose‑driven training.

David Chronister and Andrew Mendoza both come to us from the South Bend Community Re‑Entry Center, and now they’re officially hitting the streets of Elkhart and St. Joseph County as part of our PD8 family.

We’re proud of you, excited for you, and grateful to have you on the team.

🌟 Congratulations to Our Newest Field Training Officer — Melanie Godden 🌟

We’re proud to announce that Parole Officer Melanie Godden has stepped into the role of Field Training Officer.

Our FTOs take on the critical responsibility of training and guiding our new staff. This role not only strengthens the foundation of our district, but also creates long‑lasting professional experiences that benefit every member of PD8.

Congratulations to Parole Officer 2 Brian Ludy on His Promotion!

We are pleased to announce the promotion of Parole Officer Brian Ludy from Parole Officer 3 to Parole Officer 2, where he will supervise Parole Officers assigned to St. Joseph County.

PO2 Ludy began his career in Corrections in 2008 with the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office, serving for eight years. During that time, he held numerous roles, including Officer in Charge, Classification, Gang Unit member, Field Training Officer, Background Investigator for new hires, and Corrections Officer.

In 2019, PO2 Ludy joined the Parole Division. He currently manages the Jail Caseload, monitoring ongoing court cases. In addition to his caseload responsibilities, he serves as our Delta Change Agent, Delta Empowered User, and a Field Training Officer.

Please join us in congratulating PO2 Ludy on his well‑deserved promotion and in supporting him as he steps into this new role!

Friday, several of our Parole Officers had the privilege of attending the ISP Annual Memorial Ceremony.

Representing our division at an event that honors fallen heroes is something we don’t take lightly. We’re grateful for the opportunity and proud of the team members who stood in attendance.
