Tomorrow I’m heading to LaPorte to visit the LaPorte Juvenile Correctional Facility, the only state juvenile facility for girls in Indiana. I’m looking forward to learning more about rehabilitation, education, and the challenges facing young people in the justice system.

If there are questions you’d like me to ask, let me know below 👇🏼

Thank you to the dedicated team at La Rabida Children’s Hospital in Chicago for the opportunity to tour your facility and learn more about the specialized services you provide to children and families, including many from Indiana.

As a member of the Indiana House Public Health Committee, I appreciated the chance to discuss how we can strengthen partnerships and better connect Hoosier children with the care and support they need.

Thank you for the incredible work you do every day to help children thrive. ❤️

I was deeply honored to serve as the keynote speaker for the 2026 graduating class of The Excel Center. Celebrating these graduates and their incredible journeys was truly one of the highlights of my year so far. 🎓

This was part of my message to the Class of 2026: “You belong in every room you enter.”

You belong because of the work you’ve done. You belong because of the obstacles you’ve overcome. You belong because no one can take away the determination and resilience that brought you to this moment.

Congratulations to the graduates of The Excel Center South Bend and Elkhart. Thank you for allowing me to share in such a special evening with you and your families. I can’t wait to see where life takes you next.

June is Pride Month.

Indiana’s Governor and Lieutenant Governor spent June 1 proclaiming “Nuclear Family Month” and promoting a campaign to “Take Back the Rainbow” rather than recognizing Pride Month.

With an approval rating hovering around 25%, you’d think they would focus on bringing Hoosiers together.

Instead, they have offered divisive rhetoric, including public attacks on the Muslim community that left many Hoosiers feeling targeted rather than represented.

Meanwhile, thousands of LGBTQ Hoosiers continue to strengthen Indiana as parents, teachers, healthcare workers, first responders, veterans, business owners, public servants, and community leaders.

Leadership means recognizing all Hoosiers, regardless of who they are, who they love, or how they worship.

Happy Pride Month. You belong here. 🏳️‍🌈

As Gabby Petito’s mother and Leslie Hope Houston’s daughter remind us, anyone can become trapped in an abusive relationship.

While Gabby’s death occurred in Utah, Leslie’s happened here in Indiana. Their stories share a common lesson: recognizing danger early and connecting victims to help can save lives.

Too often, the warning signs are missed during interactions between victims and law enforcement. Here in St. Joseph County, officers use a lethality assessment tool to help identify victims at the highest risk of serious injury or homicide and connect them with immediate services.

Every survivor in Indiana deserves access to the same potentially lifesaving intervention. That’s why I continue to advocate for a statewide lethality assessment protocol in Indiana, ensuring that access to help is not determined by where someone lives.

Every domestic violence call is an opportunity to intervene before a tragedy occurs.

Let’s pass the Gabby Petito Act in Indiana.

Thank you to these families and all survivors who continue to share their stories to raise awareness, support victims, and save lives. ❤️

🚒 We felt like little kids playing superheroes getting a tour of South Bend Fire’s new Rescue One rig today!

But in reality, this apparatus is serious business. Loaded with specialized tools and equipment, Rescue One is designed to respond to nearly every type of emergency with its four highly trained personnel.

This new rig replaces a 2007 Pierce Enforcer and represents another important investment in public safety and emergency response for our community.

Thank you to the incredible men and women of the South Bend Fire Department for the work you do every single day to protect our city. ❤️‍🔥

Exciting news for South Bend! 🌳🏀🚲

A major transformation is coming to Kennedy Park through an $18 million investment supported by the Federal Outdoor Recreation Legacy Partnership (ORLP) program. This project will expand and enhance the park with upgraded amenities, improved accessibility, and better recreational opportunities for residents of all ages.

What makes this especially exciting is that ORLP funding is awarded nationally, and this is only the second ORLP project in Indiana. The program is administered locally through the Indiana Department of Environmental Management, making this a huge win for our community and a strong example of what collaboration can accomplish.

Projects like this help strengthen neighborhoods, improve quality of life, and create more welcoming public spaces for families, kids, and visitors alike. 👏 👏

🗳️ MORE PEOPLE ARE VOTING — AND THAT MATTERS. 🇺🇸

It is encouraging to see increased voter turnout here in St. Joseph County. Every additional voter means another voice being heard and another neighbor participating in shaping the future of our community.

Indiana has historically ranked near the bottom nationally in voter turnout, though recent years have shown improvement and growing civic engagement across our state. That makes local participation even more important.

Your vote matters because:
✨ local races are often decided by just a handful of votes
✨ decisions made by local leaders directly impact our neighborhoods, schools, roads, public safety, and healthcare
✨ democracy works best when more people participate

No matter who you voted for, thank you for taking the time to show up, stay informed, and make your voice heard.

Democracy is not a spectator sport.

The Indiana primary election saw the highest voter turnout since 2016. How does this data compare to previous primary elections? See link below ⬇️
