On August 26, 2026, Indiana Michigan Power filed a comprehensive rate reduction plan with the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (IURC). In the filing, they are seeking a 5% base rate reduction and three-year freeze for their residential customers in Indiana, and a 2% reduction for Indiana commercial customers. In addition, they have committed to a nearly billion-dollar investment in reliability upgrades across their footprint. They are able to do this, in part, due to the investment of their large-load customers.

This is one of the largest and most comprehensive rate reduction plans in the country. They are hopeful this will improve affordability and reliability for all residents and make St. Joseph County an even better place to live, work and do business.

St. Joseph County, IN – The St. Joseph County Circuit Court Clerk’s Office is proud to participate in National Election Worker Recruitment Day on Tuesday, August 11, 2026. This national initiative highlights the essential role Vote Center workers play in ensuring secure, efficient, and accessible elections across the country.

To support this effort, recruitment staff will be available in two convenient locations:

• County-City Building Lobby
227 W. Jefferson Blvd, South Bend
8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

• Mishawaka County Services Building Lobby
219 Lincolnway West, Mishawaka
8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Residents are encouraged to stop by either location to learn about the responsibilities of Vote Center workers, training requirements, and available Election Day positions. Election workers are vital to the integrity of the election process, and serving provides a meaningful opportunity to support the community and strengthen democratic participation.
