💜 Our team went purple for Purple Thursday!

Today, our YWCA North Central Indiana team wore purple in recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month and to stand with survivors in our community.

Supporting survivors is at the heart of what we do every day. We’re proud to come together to raise awareness and remind our community that domestic violence affects us all.

We need your help! YWCA North Central Indiana is urgently requesting a few essential items to support the women and families we serve.

🛏️ Twin-size fitted sheets — New or gently used
🛁 Bath towels — New or gently used
🩲 Women's underwear (panties) — New and unused, all sizes needed

These everyday essentials make a meaningful difference for the women and families who rely on our services.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and today we’re wearing purple to raise awareness, stand with survivors, and remind our community that domestic violence affects us all.

Supporting survivors starts with speaking up, showing up, and making sure no one feels alone.

💜 WE WANT TO SEE YOUR PURPLE! Whether it’s your favorite purple shirt, a pop of purple jewelry, your nails, or your whole team dressed in purple, join the conversation!

📸 Share a photo in the comments, tag your friends and coworkers, and challenge them to wear purple, too! Let’s spread awareness throughout our community.

Together, we can help remind survivors that they are not alone. 🧡

Indiana recorded 100 domestic violence-related deaths in 2025, the highest number reported in recent years. That means 100 lives lost, families shattered, and communities forever changed. And here in our own community, four people have died from domestic violence in just the first eight months of 2026.

We cannot afford to look away. Domestic violence affects ALL of us. Join YWCA North Central Indiana for a candlelight vigil and honor survivors, remember lives lost, and stand together against domestic violence.

Coming soon - a new and improved playground for our kiddos 🌞 Thank you so much to the Rotary Club of South Bend for their lasting gift!

💙💛 $15,000. One new playground. A whole lot of room to just be a kid.

The Rotary Club of South Bend Charitable Foundation is proud to award our 2026 Philanthropic Grant to YWCA North Central Indiana!

The $15,000 award will help fund a new playground for children staying at the YWCA with their families — creating a safe, welcoming outdoor space to play, laugh, explore and simply enjoy being kids.

Each year, our Philanthropic Award invests in a significant capital project that strengthens our community. Over the years, those investments have helped create and improve spaces throughout South Bend. This year, we're especially proud that our investment will create a place designed for some of our community's youngest residents.

This is what Service Above Self looks like: Rotarians giving, a strong community organization doing the work, and together creating something that will make a difference for families for years to come.

Congratulations to YWCA North Central Indiana! We can't wait to see the new playground come to life. 💙💛

This morning, YWCA North Central Indiana had the honor of recognizing law enforcement officers from the South Bend Police Department, St. Joseph County Police Department, and Mishawaka Police Department for their life-saving work through the DALE (Danger Assessment for Law Enforcement) program.

The need for this work has never been more urgent. Indiana recorded 100 domestic violence-related deaths in 2025—the highest number reported by the Indiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence.

When officers respond to a domestic violence call, DALE helps them recognize warning signs that a survivor may be at heightened risk for serious injury or homicide. Officers can then connect survivors directly with YWCA advocates for safety planning, emergency shelter, and critical support.

That connection can save a life.

We are deeply grateful to these officers for recognizing the danger, asking the difficult questions, and taking the extra step to connect survivors with help when they need it most.
