🌟Staff Spotlight: Meet Jim Baxter, Our New Director of Community Outreach! 🌟
Please join us in congratulating Jim Baxter on his new role as United Way of St. Joseph County’s Director of Community Outreach!
Jim has been part of the United Way family for eight years, serving in several roles along the way. He began with the Health Improvement Alliance, became a Community Impact Coordinator in 2021, and then Director of Community Impact in 2022. Most recently, Jim served as a Community Navigator at our OneRoof Center, working alongside community partners and connecting people in our community with the resources they need.
Jim’s passion for serving others has been a constant throughout his career. Before United Way, he taught Communications at Notre Dame and spent 25 years at Coachman. After retiring, Jim found himself missing that “something” and began working with the unhoused population—where he discovered a passion for helping others and promoting the importance of health.
In his new role, Jim is excited to get out into the community, meet new people, share the United Way story, and build new connections. And, of course, he’s especially excited that it gives him an excuse to drink more coffee! ☕️
Outside of work, Jim and his wife, Bonnie, have been married for 53 years. They have three children and 11 grandchildren, and Jim loves cheering on his grandkids at their track, soccer and softball events. He and Bonnie also love to travel, with Italy holding the top spot on Jim’s list of favorite destinations. 🇮🇹
We are so excited to have Jim stepping into this role. His passion for people, our community and United Way is contagious!
Help us welcome Jim to his new role! ❤️
