One school-day moment I will never get tired of is celebrating students in any way. I also look forward to the million hugs I get a day.

I taught 4th grade at Harrison for 18 years. I love the Chicago Bears (we have season tickets). I LOVE Lay's potato chips (the original ones). I have 32 first cousins on my mom's side.

A big thank-you to Mr. Cook, Mrs. Shoemaker, and Mr. Luu for giving the Jefferson Traditional Middle School Volleyball Team an incredible opportunity to attend a Notre Dame Volleyball game and enjoy other exciting festivities on campus!

Experiences like these go beyond the classroom and the court, creating lasting memories, building connections, and inspiring our students in new ways.

𝑪𝒆𝒍𝒆𝒃𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒑𝒆𝒐𝒑𝒍𝒆 𝒘𝒉𝒐 𝒎𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝒂 𝒅𝒊𝒇𝒇𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆!

Last night, the South Bend Education Alliance hosted its 39th Annual South Bend Community Hall of Fame Induction and Awards Banquet at the Century Center, welcoming more than 700 community leaders, educators, and district leaders to honor seven new inductees!

Among this year’s honorees was former South Bend Mayor and U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg. Four of the seven inductees are proud South Bend Schools alumni!

Our SouthBendCTE media students played a special role in the evening, producing a video featuring interviews with Hall of Fame inductees and SBCSC teachers reflecting on the educators who made a lasting difference in their lives.

We’re proud to see our students’ talents contribute to an evening celebrating excellence, community, and the lasting impact of education!

Bring the community together for a night of literacy, treats, and fall fun! Jackson Middle School is inviting community members to participate in its Trunk or Treat Literacy Night on Wednesday, October 21.

Decorate your trunk, hand out treats, and connect with students and families for a fun-filled evening celebrating reading and community!

GEAR UP South Bend welcomed 50 SBCSC high school students to the LEAD OUT LOUD: GUSB Student Action Summit

Centered on the theme “Your Voice. Your Ideas. Your Leadership,” students explored their leadership strengths, collaborated with peers, and participated in interactive workshops focused on student engagement and creative problem-solving.

The summit wrapped up with each student making a personal 30-day leadership commitment, turning inspiration into meaningful next steps.

When students have a voice, they can help shape the future!
