The open house that was scheduled to take place on Thursday, September 3rd has been rescheduled to Thursday, October 29th. It will take place on the same day and at the same time as parent teacher conferences.

As we begin the 2026–2027 school year, Rise Up Academy is implementing a new cell phone procedure in accordance with Indiana state law.

Earlier this year, Senate Enrolled Act 78 (SEA 78) was signed into law, strengthening Indiana’s restrictions on student cell phone and personal wireless device use in schools. Under the new law, schools are required to adopt policies that prohibit students from using personal wireless communication devices during the school day, with limited exceptions.

At Rise Up Academy, our goal is simple: reduce distractions, increase engagement, and keep the focus on learning.

🎓 Congratulations to two of our summer graduates, Kyreese and Selena! 🎓

Kyreese and Selena both came into the summer as juniors getting ready to start their senior year, but instead, they put in the work and finished their graduation requirements early!

We are so proud of both of them and all of the hard work they put in to make this happen. What an awesome way to end the summer and start their next chapter!

FINAL RISE UP STUDENT SPOTLIGHT OF THE 2025-2026 SCHOOL YEAR:
When Damari arrived at Rise Up Academy in April, he wasted no time getting to work. Since then, he has completed an incredible nine Edmentum courses, moving so quickly that we've had to keep finding new courses for him to take!

With the support and encouragement of Ms. Lee, Damari has demonstrated an outstanding level of dedication and commitment to his education. We are incredibly proud of the hard work he puts in each day and the progress he continues to make.

Join us as we celebrate the accomplishments of the Class of 2026 from Rise Up Academy and South Bend Virtual School. We are incredibly proud of the hard work that our graduates have shown throughout their educational journeys, and we look forward to honoring this important milestone with them.

Please arrive by 9:00 AM for lineup and check-in. Students who arrive late may not be guaranteed entry into the ceremony.

END OF THE YEAR SPOTLIGHT:

Last week, Rise Up Academy celebrated the second year of the School Improvement Grant (SIG) alongside students, staff, and community members. The event gave us the chance to reflect on how far we have come over the past two years and recognize the impact the grant has had on our school. Students and staff shared their experiences, showcased different projects and events that they have worked on, and highlighted some of the opportunities and improvements that have been made possible through the grant. It was a great opportunity to celebrate the hard work of our school community and the progress we continue to make together. 🐦‍🔥🩵

RISE UP SPOTLIGHT:

This year, Adrien, Myomie, and Diana took on the African American History Challenge, spending months studying from a college-level textbook to prepare for the competition. While the competition itself took place on March 18, the real accomplishment was the dedication they showed throughout the entire school year.

These students put in the work, stayed committed, and represented Rise Up Academy with pride. We wanted to take a moment to recognize their effort, perseverance, and willingness to challenge themselves.

A special thank you goes to Mrs. Wells, whose support and encouragement made this opportunity possible. We are proud of these students for stepping up, sticking with it, and representing Rise Up so well. 🐦‍🔥🩵

RISE UP SPOTLIGHT:
We love recognizing students who go above and beyond, and Shamarion is a wonderful example of that sort of dedication. His positive attitude, strong work ethic, and genuine desire to learn make him stand out in the classroom each and every day. In Mr. Sweeney's class, Shamarion is never satisfied with simply getting the right answer. He wants to understand the “why” behind it all. His curiosity, respectfulness, and commitment to doing his best are qualities that truly deserve to be celebrated.
