Mutual aid in action—and an important safety reminder! 🚒🔥 Yesterday, the Vermont Air National Guard Fire Department responded to assist the Winooski Fire Department with a structure fire that was quickly contained to a single room and its contents.The cause of the fire was determined to be an e-bike battery. Thanks to the seamless coordination and fast action of all crews on scene, the fire was knocked down quickly, minimizing property damage and keeping everyone safe.Lithium-ion batteries power our favorite tech, but they pose serious fire risks if they malfunction. Help prevent these incidents by following these quick safety tips:

❌ Never charge e-bikes near exit routes or on beds/couches.
❌ Stop using any battery that is damaged, leaking, or overheating.
✅ Only use the original manufacturer’s charger and battery pack.
✅ Look for products certified by qualified testing laboratories (like UL).Great job to all departments involved for their quick response! 🤝💪

Securing a strong water supply is the foundation of any successful fire attack. This week, our firefighters at the VTANG Fire Department led our newest recruits through high-speed hydrant evolutions to master the art of the forward lay.

What our new members practiced:

Catching the Hydrant: Wrapping the hydrant quickly and safely under pressure.

Making the Connections: Snapping supply lines into place with zero wasted seconds.

Operating the Barrel: Opening the valve smoothly to prevent water hammer damage.

Pump Panel Coordination: Communicating seamlessly with the operator to establish continuous water.

Nothing replaces real-world, hands-on experience! 🔥 This spring, our firefighters from the (Vermont Air National Guard) traveled all the way to New London, North Carolina, to train on live jet fuel fires.Because protecting Burlington International Airport is a high-stakes mission, this intense, specialized training is absolutely vital. Our team tackled real-world scenarios to build the exact skills required to protect our F-35s. Whether we are backing up local communities or protecting the runway for the 158th Fighter Wing, mastering the P-26's 4,000-gallon water capacity ensures our team is ready to respond at a moment’s notice.
