Good morning, Richmond Families!

We have a large supply of milk remaining at school that will not be used before its expiration date. Most cartons expire on June 9, June 10, or June 12. We have primarily white milk available, along with some chocolate milk.

We are adding some deliveries today! Mrs. Morganroth and Ms. Sawyer will be available at Mountain Heights Church from 10:15-10:30 for pick ups! They will then be at the Southmoor bus stop from 10:45-11:00. Don't forget bags or boxes to take them back to your homes!

If your family can use any of this milk, please bring a bag and stop by the front office window between 10:00–11:00 a.m. today (June 4) or tomorrow (June 5).

We would love for this milk to go to families who can use it rather than see it go to waste. Thank you!

Happy Last day of School Richmond Students and Families!

As I sit in a quiet building, and the hustle and bustle of the schools days have come to a halt for the year, my heart is filled with pride for the students at Richmond Elementary. We have much to celebrate from this school year!

Richmond students ranked THIRD IN THE COUNTY for improvements in iReady Math!

Our K-5 Students improved proficiency levels in iReady Math by 12% from the end of the year last year to the end of the year this year!

25-26 beginning of the year 11%; middle of the year 30%; End of the year 63%!

Our Students showed up!

I strongly believe that the improvements in student attendance helped make our academic achievements possible! THANK YOU, families, for making school attendance a priority!

Chronic Absenteeism rates (18 days absent or more) for the past three years:

-2023-24: 27.155%

-2024-25: 19.907 %

We set a lofty goal of having 15% or less of our students in the chronically absent range, and we achieved it!

On Wednesday, our students were rewarded with a Starbucks Party (Richmond Style) as a celebration for their hard work during testing! Students earned punches each day of testing for being prepared, following testing expectations, and trying their very best. They then used their punch cards to “purchase” refreshers and cake pops.

We want to give a huge thank you to Starbucks in Kanawha City and Sam’s Club in Southridge for their generous donations that helped make this special reward possible for our students. We are so proud of all of their hard work and effort!

We are proud to share that Kanawha County Schools teachers were recognized at last evening’s Kanawha County Board of Education meeting for the positive impact they make in their classrooms, schools, and communities.

Representing Richmond Elementary was our very own fourth grade teacher, Mrs. Sawyer! We are incredibly grateful for the dedication, care, and positive influence she brings to our students and school each day. Congratulations, Mrs. Sawyer, and thank you for making a difference at Richmond Elementary!

We would like to give a huge thank you to Kindness Grows Here (https://www.kindnessgrowshere.com/?utm_source=chatgpt.com) and the Kid Kindness Grant for supporting our project, “Fishing for Fidgets.” Because of your kindness and generosity, we were able to help new students feel welcomed and supported at our school.
Our students worked very hard to create handmade fidgets for students who were going through the hard transition of coming to a new school. Through this project, we learned teamwork, social skills, creativity, and how important it is to care for others. We loved seeing how something small, like a fidget and a friendly conversation, could help another student feel included and comfortable.
Thank you for giving kids the opportunity to spread kindness and make a difference in our school community!
