Regional Intergovernmental Council Serving Boone, Clay, Kanawha, and Putnam counties by supporting intergovernmental cooperation.

The Regional Intergovernmental Council (RIC) was established in 1968 as a voluntary organization of local elected municipal and county officials in Boone, Clay, Kanawha and Putnam counties. It was the first regional planning and development council in the State of West Virginia. RIC addresses regional issues and promotes intergovernmental cooperation. RIC serves as the Metropolitan Planning Organi

zation (MPO) for the Charleston Urban Area (Kanawha and Putnam Counties). RIC's primary mission is to improve quality of life for the regional public through infrastructure development, leveraging of federal and state funding, road safety and hazard resiliency planning, and community organization.
