Pollen8 is seeking a creative, dependable, and mission-driven Chef to prepare and produce food for catered events through Café Appalachia Catering. This position will work primarily from our commissary kitchen in South Charleston while also supporting events at our cafés and customer venues.
The Caterer will:
🍽️ Prepare, produce, and pack food for catered events
🥕 Create menus featuring garden-grown produce and house-made products
📋 Manage prep lists, portions, food costs, and production timelines
🚚 Assist with event setup, service, and breakdown
👩🍳 Help train women in our Recovery Corps program in food preparation, food safety, and event planning
💚 Create a supportive culture where team members can learn, heal, and grow
We’re looking for someone who has:
✅ Basic culinary knowledge and catering experience for 100+ guests
✅ Strong organization, communication, and customer-service skills
✅ Knowledge of food costs, budgets, ordering, and P&L analysis
✅ Creativity with menus, presentation, and food displays
✅ A valid driver’s license and the ability to lift 25+ pounds
✅ A current Kanawha County Management Food Handler Card—or the ability to obtain and maintain one
✅ Knowledge, understanding, and empathy regarding Substance Use Disorder
✅ A genuine desire to make a difference
Farm-to-table experience is a plus!
