The West Virginia State Fire Marshal’s Office has officially launched their new, digital Home Safety Survey.

The goal is to make it easier for West Virginians to identify home fire hazards and take proactive steps toward safety. This tool is designed to be a quick, five-minute assessment that provides immediate safety guidance to residents while helping us better understand fire safety trends across the state.

Today, members of the South Charleston Fire Department spent the day sharpening their boat operations and water rescue skills through hands on training.
Regular training ensures our firefighters are prepared to respond safely and effectively when water emergencies arise. From boat handling and maneuvering to rescue techniques and teamwork, every drill strengthens the skills needed to protect our community.

Friday, May 1, 2026 Solenis Manufacturing Plant will be conducting an exercise that has been in the planning stage the last few months. THIS IS ONLY AN EXERCISE!

Solenis’ manufacturing plant located at 95 MacCorkle Avenue in South Charleston, West Virginia, will conduct a planned crisis response exercise on May 1 at approximately 9:00 a.m. EDT. The purpose of

This exercise is to test emergency response plans and identify opportunities to strengthen coordination and communication during real‑world situations.

The exercise will include participation from local emergency responders.

As part of the drill, plant alarms will be activated, and employees will use a custom internal crisis communication app. Emergency vehicles will be present on site for the duration of the exercise. These activities are part of a scheduled training event and do not represent an actual emergency.

The Solenis South Charleston facility manufactures high‑quality, innovative pool care products for residential and commercial pools and spas.
