🥾❤️ LET’S FEED PEOPLE.

More people are coming through the doors of the Heart + Hand Food Pantry than ever before. Last week, we had the busiest day in our 60-year history.

Behind that number are real people. Families stretching groceries until payday. Seniors trying to make a fixed income cover one more month. Parents making impossible choices between food, utilities, rent, and medicine.

That’s why this year’s Hike for Hunger matters so much.

Ever since West Virginia’s Posey Perry Funds ended in 2025, Heart and Hand Thrift Store + Outreach Ministries’ Food Pantry in South Charleston has struggled to afford the more costly foods.

“Meat is such a luxury,” said Jenny Keener, Outreach Director for the organization.

"They’re occasionally able to provide it," Keener said, "but it’s extremely limited because meat is rarely donated, and it’s often too costly to buy."

But you can change that when you donate to Mountaineer Food Bank today. The food we receive goes out to more than 460 partner agencies across the state, including Heart + Hand.
