📌SCDOT to close and detour Pine Street bridge over Congaree Creek in Lexington County for repairs📌

Columbia, S.C. (August 11, 2026) - The South Carolina Department of Transportation will close and detour the Pine Street bridge over Congaree Creek in Lexington County for repairs beginning Monday, August 17.

The bridge is expected to reopen by September 18. These dates may change depending on weather conditions.

As part of this closure, a detour route has been set up. A map of the detour can be found below. Please note that Pine Street will be open to local traffic only, except at the bridge site.

SCDOT asks that drivers slow down and pay attention to signs and crews when driving through the area.

Keep the Midlands Beautiful : "Greetings From Springdale” Mural Unveiled July 31, 2026

Keep the Midlands Beautiful (KMB) is proud to announce the fourth “Greetings From” mural in their “Connecting and Protecting Communities” series across Lexington and Richland counties. The “Greetings from Springdale” mural is now being installed at Springdale Town Hall. It was designed and painted by Michael Geddings with guidance from the Town of Springdale administrative team and was sponsored through a grant from Keep America Beautiful.

Last night Colonel Carey Eugene Way was recognized by Resolution from the Mayor and Town Council for his overwhelming accomplishments and awards. Thank you for your service and commitment to our country. Colonel Way was also presented with the Congressional Certificate of Special Recognition from Congressman Joe Wilson. 🇺🇸
