📣 Last night, Town Council voted to remove me from my role as the presiding officer of our council meetings. While this may seem like a significant change, I want to assure everyone that my dedication to serving South Congaree and advocating for our community remains unwavering. I continue to hold the position of Mayor (until 2029), and my commitment to our town is stronger than ever.
This action is obviously politically motivated and aimed at silencing me and undermine my influence. However, my commitment remains to represent the people of South Congaree, and I will persist in fulfilling that duty.
This decision was influenced by a remark I made during an executive session: I expressed my expectation that we had hired capable individuals. This belief stems from my conviction that South Congaree residents deserve effective, professional leadership and administration dedicated to their needs every single day. It is entirely reasonable for the mayor to demand accountability and competence from our town staff, as this is a fundamental aspect of responsible leadership.
I will not stop asking challenging questions, advocating for South Congaree’s best interests, and speaking honestly. I will also continue fostering relationships with local representatives and legislators. I will continue to champion transparency, accountability, and progress for our town, which is why I have been elected…twice.
Your involvement is crucial now more than ever. I encourage you to attend town meetings, stay updated on local issues, and express your opinions! A thriving community relies on the active engagement of its citizens, so let your voice be a part of the conversation! I hope to see you at future meetings!! 🇺🇸
