Congaree Cares and South Congaree Police Department

The Town of Pine Ridge, South Carolina is excited to partner with Congaree Cares and Steve's Deli for their annual Halloween Spooktacular.

One of the best parts of this annual Spooktacular event is seeing the dedication of local business owners , families, and community organizations, that give their time, resources, creativity, and energy to pour back into our community and have a little fun together while doing it. 🎃

A great, fun-filled family friendly event for all to enjoy.

At the Tuesday, August 18, 2026, Regular Council Meeting, Council recognized Tim James for his contributions as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Greater Cayce-West Columbia Chamber & Visitors Program. We are thankful for his many years of dedicated service to the Town of South Congaree. Council and staff wish him all the best in his future endeavors.

Welcome, Laura Carter, to South Congaree-Pine Ridge Branch Library!

📚 Meet your new Branch Librarian! 💙

We're excited to welcome Laura Carter to South Congaree-Pine Ridge Branch Library!

Laura has spent much of her career in libraries, beginning with her first job as a high school library assistant. She's worked at the South Caroliniana Library and USC's Libraries Digital Collections. She has also served as a Reference Librarian and Collection Management and Acquisitions Librarian here at Lexington County Public Library.

When she's not working or studying for her Ph.D., Laura enjoys learning new crafts and reading mystery novels. 📖🔍

We're so happy to have Laura as part of our South Congaree-Pine Ridge community. If you see her around the branch, say hello and introduce yourself! We can't wait for you to get to know her. 💙

Hundreds of Volunteers Removing Litter from Roadways This Weekend 📌

This weekend, Friday, August 14 through Sunday, August 16, 2026, several hundred volunteers will be removing litter from roadways throughout Lexington and Richland counties and on streets in the City of Columbia. If you are driving and see signs indicating that litter pick-up is in progress or see volunteers in safety vests, please slow down.

Keep the Midlands Beautiful l manages the Adopt-A-Highway, Adopt-A-Street, and Adopt-A-Waterway programs and provides free supplies (safety vests, litter grabbers, cloth gloves, and bags) for over 300 volunteer groups of all types and sizes. 📌SCDOT to close and detour Pine Street bridge over Congaree Creek in Lexington County for repairs📌

Columbia, S.C. (August 11, 2026) - The South Carolina Department of Transportation will close and detour the Pine Street bridge over Congaree Creek in Lexington County for repairs beginning Monday, August 17.

The bridge is expected to reopen by September 18. These dates may change depending on weather conditions.

As part of this closure, a detour route has been set up. A map of the detour can be found below. Please note that Pine Street will be open to local traffic only, except at the bridge site.

SCDOT asks that drivers slow down and pay attention to signs and crews when driving through the area.
