At 8:30 this morning, Engine 2 responded to a residence on Stage Road for a carbon monoxide alarm sounding. Upon investigation, elevated levels of CO were found due to a propane stovetop. We ventilated the residence and rechecked to confirm safe atmospheric levels before turning the property back over to the homeowner.

At 1:00PM this afternoon we responded along with South County EMS and Massachusetts State Police to a three car motor vehicle accident on I-91 SB in the area of mile marker 38. South County EMS evaluated several involved parties while we cleared the roadway of fluid and debris. Two vehicles were able to drive from the scene and one was towed by Koch's Automotive Inc.

Earlier today, department staff and Brush 1 were at Tree House Brewing Company in support of the fireworks display.

Shortly before 11:00PM yesterday evening, we were requested to respond along with South County EMS and Deerfield Police Department, Massachusetts to a one car motor vehicle accident on Conway Road in the area of South Mill River Road. South County EMS evaluated the operator while we cleared the roadway of fluids and debris. The vehicle was removed from the scene by Byrne Towing.

Earlier this week, department staff participated in an auto extrication training exercise presented by Firematic. Members were able to get hands on experience with our new HURST Jaws of Life battery powered rescue tools which are now carried on Engine 2.

Shortly before 2:00PM this afternoon, Engine 1 and Tower 1 responded mutual aid to the town of Whately to assist Whately Fire Department with a barn fire on River Road.

A small barn fire in Whately was caused by improper disposal of smokeable materials. Quick response prevented serious damage.

Earlier today, department staff with the assistance of Deerfield Department of Public Works hung flags throughout the down town area for the upcoming Memorial Day Holiday. Special thank you to Town of Montague, MA DPW for lending their bucket truck.

Over the weekend, department members participated in a search and rescue training exercise. Multiple evolutions were conducted in smoke filled conditions to simulate near zero-visibility environments.

Earlier this morning, department members and Tower 1 were in the town of Whately to display the flag at the start of the annual WMass Mother's Day Half Marathon. Happy Mothers Day!
