The sign at the trailhead says that the tallest tree in the Rio Grande National Forest is 1/3 of a mile, however according to the COTrex app, it’s actually .49 miles with 320 feet of ascent .
Regardless, this tree is worth going up to see.
The latest official measurement we have is that it’s 67.5 inches in diameter and 100 feet tall with a 43 foot spread.

🎨 Calling All Young Artists Ages 6–13! 🎨

Give your kids a chance to get creative at our FREE Kids' Art Workshop led by local artist Inga Ojala!

Young artists ages 6–13 can choose from three fun, hands-on projects:

✨ Leather Wristband Stamping
🎄 Wooden Ornament Painting
💌 Notecard Stamping

Each class will be offered twice throughout the day, giving families flexible scheduling options and plenty of opportunities to create something special to take home.

This is your sign to add a paddle board to your setup this summer.

Two of our favorite spots to camp + paddle board are Beaver Creek Reservoir and Big Meadows Reservoir. You can bring your own or rent one from a local business like or SUP South Fork (supsouthfork.com).
