Have you ever wondered…what happens to all the narcotics that are seized during narcotic related cases or major narcotics investigations?
After the criminal case is adjudicated the drugs are held until a court order is obtained to destroy them. This typically happens as soon as possible after the case is complete. Police Department’s throughout the State of California destroy seized narcotics through EPA-approved incinerators under emission and security standards. The disposal fee is paid annually by the State of California Department of Justice and by the U.S. Customs Service.
In April, 2017, #SoGatePD conducted an evidence narcotics destruction. During the destruction, drugs seized from South Gate narcotic investigations where collected and destroyed. The drugs consisted of co***ne, methamphetamine, he**in, and ma*****na. The total combined weight of drugs destroyed was over 8,200lbs. The drugs had a street value of over $30 MILLION dollars.
Thank you to all the enforcement efforts of all agencies in the war to combat illegal narcotics on our streets. #SoGatePD is committed to keeping drugs off the streets of South Gate and our surrounding communities.

EXCELLENT OBSERVATION ARREST
On Monday, February 13th, at approximately 0300 hours a burglary occurred at 3848 Tweedy Blvd, Stylish Queen Boutique, South Gate, CA. Officers arrived and observed the front glass door had been shattered and several clothing items taken. The owner provided us with surveillance video of the incident.
#SoGatePd Detectives distributed a wanted bulletin to local police departments with photos from the surveillance video. Several days later, a vigilant Huntington Park Police Cadet was off-duty driving through South Gate and observed a vehicle that matched the description of the one depicted on the bulletin.
The cadet recognized the vehicle and called our dispatch. The cadet advised the dispatcher of the circumstances and provided a direction of travel of the vehicle. The cadet stayed on the phone and provided information until units arrived. South Gate units stopped the vehicle and positively identified the suspect vehicle as being the one involved in the burglary. One male subject was arrested.
The suspect was interviewed, but initially denied being involved in the crime. When presented with the surveillance video and photos, he admitted to the crime. The LA County DA’s Office filed a felony count of burglary against the suspect.
Thank you to Stylist Queen Boutique for having quality video and to #HuntingtonPark Police for having committed and observant cadets.

K-9 Rudy training on muzzle fighting. Police dogs are one of the most effective and diverse tools used in policing. Dogs have a keen sense of smell and hearing, making them a valuable partner to a police officer. A police dog will respond to noise from much further away than a human.
