South Hadley Police Department Begins Transition to Regional Dispatch

The South Hadley Police Department has officially begun the transition to the Westfield Regional Dispatch Center as part of the Town’s move toward regionalized emergency communications.

Route 116 (Amherst Road) is CLOSED between The Knolls and Pearl Street due to a downed telephone pole from an earlier accident.

Please utilize Pearl Street and Woodbridge Street for a detour until work is completed!

We’re grateful to Senator Jake Oliveira for his work in securing us SAFE Grants for the upcoming year! These funds will provide valuable education in the community.

I'm delighted to share that several municipalities in our district will receive FY26 Student Awareness of Fire Education (SAFE) and Senior SAFE Grant Awards to support local fire departments in keeping children, older adults, and families safe.

Chicopee Fire Department: $12,999.31
Town of East Longmeadow: $8,613.63
Granby MA Fire Department: $6,872.05
Longmeadow Fire Department: $11,400.00
Ludlow Fire Department: $10,317.54
Palmer Fire Department: $8,505.50
South Hadley Fire Dist 2: $9,267.78
Wilbraham Fire Department: $15,329.52

Together, these awards represent more than $98,500 in fire and life safety education for communities across our district.

The SAFE program brings age-appropriate fire prevention and safety education to school-age children, while Senior SAFE helps protect older residents through education, home visits, smoke and carbon monoxide alarm replacement, fall prevention efforts, and other important services.

Good morning. The South Hadley Police Dept is looking for the public's assistance in locating the following missing person:
Amelda Bennett, 72 years old of Granby Rd South Hadley. Last seen/been in contact with after 6am wearing brown pants and a black & white striped shirt. Amelda does not have a cell phone and has a history of dementia. Please check any cameras that might be along the Granby Rd/Rt. 202 corridor. If found please contact the South Hadley Police at 413-538-8231
