On Sunday, May 24th, 2026 around 2112 hours, South Haven Fire was dispatched to a structure fire that was reported to be fully involved. The fire was contained to its originating structure but resulted in 1 civilian fatality. Responding agencies were South Haven Fire Department, Caldwell Volunteer Fire Department, Wellington Fire/EMS - City of Wellington , Sumner County Emergency Management, Sumner County Sheriff's Office-KS , Caldwell EMS and the Kansas Fire Marshal. South Haven Fire extends its
condolences to the family of the victim and thanks the agencies that responded.
The fire remains under investigation, no name or other information will be released at this time.
